Stopos	Posted - 2009.08.29 03:06:00 - [1] Edited by: Stopos on 29/08/2009 03:11:35 Dear CCP, On 8/29/2009 at 00:50 Eve time my account was hacked while conducting a Character Transfer I was bumped off-line and then could not log in, My password was not accepted. I reset my password and during the 10 min I was gone 2 of my Characters had been hacked. The 1 day Character "Ogo" knew exactly when to hack my account during this transaction and set up a contract for an Ibis for 7 billion isk. He then logged into the "Audi Amarr" character and sold the listed ships below to fellow or his own characters. I would suggest you start any investigation with "Lafrappe" due to his knowledge of the sale and when the isk was transferred. The Account Stopos was hacked for 7 billion isk. And the Account Audi amarr was hacked for 930 million isk and the ships listed below. I would also like to add I do not believe this is a solo hack. I will forward information as it is obtained. Question QUESTION: is it against the law to hack into someoneÆs personal account? ANSWER: Yes. ItÆs a Felony in Florida and most other states. Almost all states have their own version of this, but here is Florida: 815.06 Offenses against computer users.-- (1) Whoever willfully, knowingly, and without authorization: (a) Accesses or causes to be accessed any computer, computer system, or computer network; (2)(a) Except as provided in paragraphs (b) and (c), whoever violates subsection (1) commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. An e-mail system is considered a network for these statues. So accessing someoneÆs personal e-mail account without their permission is a Felony in Florida. Punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Just a FYI, even just getting on someoneÆs computer without their permission is the same. Or accessing someoneÆs wireless network, without permission to use it to access the Internet (which happens allot). I hope this answers your question. If you have any others feel free to ask.

Not the first time, and not the last time, and certainly not unreasonable to do that. Then again, Florida laws don't matter wherever those hackers are from. There those laws don't apply. I've had my credit card #s stolen before... nothing you can do legally because you aren't ever going to find the people and you will never have proof it was actually them that did it. Beauty of the internet right there... plus if they are in China (like most of these allegedly are) then nothing will be done even if you find the exact person because China will never extradite a national. Are you suggesting that there is some sort of problem with the transfer system that in turn has caused this to happen? Well there are many ways they might have got the account details but they all require you the person that has the info to allow them to get it. Have you been to any of the ISK/GOLD selling sites? <even just to visit>, do you have any brothers/sisters that might find it funny to see you loose everything in EVE? Have you had any friends around that may benifit from doing this sort of thing to your EVE characters? Do you download Torrented games? After reading through the sell thread it looks like the order of events is this: Little jimmy was looking forward to some pew pew this weekend so he bought some isk from a nasty dealer to outfit his ships with. He immediatly got hacked and then the hacker put his best character up for sale on the cheap for a quick sell. Isk sent which is then transferred to all the other isk buyers who were not on the target list atm. As a final screw you the hacker fakes the hack with a petition about poor Lafrappe. Some good ideals are being posted here on what not to do, and hopefully CCP will post on the proper procedures and what actions they will take agianst cyber hackers. My only suggestion to CCP is follow the isk trial and product trial, just like the real cops do. Your answers will be there.

I did not know there was a password reset that didn't ask for your current password. I assumed any changes that didn't have the original password was handled on a petition basis. Which btw is the only way to get this solved. All you are going to get from the forums is ridcule for buying isk from hackers or clicking on the stupidly obvious keylogger links. Protip: The "Hacker" Has your new password and is waiting on you getting your isk and stuff back so he can do it all again.
