Edited by: Konferge on 31/08/2009 14:53:36 Mainly because I hit New thread instead of reply to thread, but it's ok
If BYRN had stayed blue with TCF and RA, the same result would have happened, it just would have happen much sooner. So while a lot of people bash on Elrac for this, he was just doing what was in the best interest of the alliance.
And the reason all those corps left was mainly due to the fact that this is... afterall.. a game. And what the Goons and NC were doing in Wicked Creek was taking the fun out of EVE with afk cloakers. A full scale invasion would have been fun and people would have participated, too bad goons didn't have the guts or ships or whatever to do that.
So Kudos on your victory by making everyone bored out of their minds that they leave.

Hmm, it indeed is quite a difficult situation that you and your corp were put into. I understand where you are coming from and based on my own previous experiences, I am completely sympathetic to what happened. If you, or other corps in BYRN, are looking to evacuate out of Wicked Creek unhindered and without interference from Goonsies, then I suggest you send an evemail to penifSMASH. He is one of the Directors involved with real estate and space management in the South-East and he can see to it that your corp's assets get out safely. If you are looking to rent space or outright join the alliance, you should speak to him as well. We at GoonSwarm privately thought highly of your corp's PvP prowess.
I do not hope to c u on teh battlefield , considering these unfortunate circumstances. Goonspeed and we look forward to hearing back from you soon.

unfortunately(For some) AFK Cloakers are all part of 0.0 life. If you do not have the pvp ships/pilots/ability to take the fight to your opponents, you ARE going to be plagued by these.
If your individual members main income is from ratting in 0.0, then you WILL loose morale. These players will be picked off one by one slowly over time, draining morale isk by isk. The goons, and many other entities have learned that this is often a faster way to kill an alliance then an all out invasion.
It's sad, and it's not fun(Though the cloakers claim it's fun) even they will after a few months get tired of it. But sadly most alliance's cannot stand up to a few months of AFK cloakers.
You have several solutions to AFK Cloakers.
1) Have your individual pilots move their isk making to empire. Alts running lvl 4's wil make ok ISK without the risk. Or mining ops. I know of at least 2 large 0.0 high pvp corps who make their isk from empire mining ops. As a corp, they mine in groups of 50+, stripping whole constellations. They take the isk, and split it amongst those who participate on a daily basis.
2) Get your isk from some other form of income. Market trading, production, moon mining, WH expiditions. Anything to get your isk other then ratting.
3) teach your people how to avoid AFK Cloakers. Get an extensive Jump bridge network going. Make sure you have Safe POS's/Outposts in the systems your people will use. Make sure the damned Jump Bridges are always fueled. Teach them how to move safely in 0.0(Scouts, intel channels, VOICE COMS) and so on.
As annoying as AFK Cloakers are they are no REAL danger to your alliance's. They are a danger to your alliance's MORALE. Which is more dangerous.
As for Goons not invading, if you want a fight, and they won't bring it, then take the fight to them.

As far as I can make out, most of our buddies are doing okay at the moment.
I don't know exactly what your relationship was with TCF and RA, but most or all of the people who've been shooting you lately would come help those alliances at a moment's notice. So even if they weren't quite so close to Scorched Earth, you'd have had no shortage of friends if you'd stayed close to RA and TCF. After all, the attacks on you were really attacks on TCF by proxy, I think.
In fairness, it can't have looked that way when TCF's friends were pretty much all busy in Delve, or taking a rest after Delve.
But stabbing our frFres in the back was a mistake. I'm not really slamming you guys for getting it wrong (although personally I'd rather live in Jita than betray TCF and RA) but the idea that you'd be in the same position whatever you did is just wishful thinking.

to be fair, Scorched Earth imploding is more to do with the fact they're terrible than who they betrayed - its not like much pressure was applied, a few AFK cloakers and they fell apart

So, you're saying that when Aggro and Atlas were knocking on the door to WC, and no one who was blue offered up assistance, we'd have gotten through it just fine? I think not. We've lost our space now, but staying red to Atlas and Aggro would have meant our space would have been gone that much sooner.

I was under the impression you did get help from RA and TCF, but I'm not denying it was bad at the time. Nobody said "just fine":)
But you'd be in a better position now, yes. Maybe in the short term you were better off, but in the longer term you're screwed with no friends (unless you think Atlas is your friend).
Anyway. .. um . . bye

Your space was lost no matter what you did. Had you not betrayed TCF and instead pulled to empire to regroup people would have probably helped you retake the space which won't happen now.

Pandemic Legion should get most of the credit for killing BYRN. Sure, Goons and friends would occasionally show up when they had nothing else to do, but it was PL who were constantly putting the pressure on them. The hotdrops and HAC fleets drained their wallets, and killed their morale. ______

RA lost almost all their space while we were tied up elsewhere, we came back to help them and now look at where they are.

We bridged BS fleets on top of them what.... 6 times total? In maybe 3-5 days... 1-2 months ago. It might've been one of the factors that helped accelerate the failcascade, but the cloak***gots had just as much of a hand in that as the obvious, repeatable BS rapings they got trying to defend their towers in 3-LJ did.
