Boring Friday and I was wondering how many Meta 4 items better than their Meta 5 versions (excluding cost, just comparing fittings & bonuses).

 I'll start with
Rolled Tungsten Plates I > Steel Plates II
All ECM Meta 4 > ECM Meta 5

You guys and gals have any others?

All ECCM, same sensor strength boost, less CPU, less cap use.

PWNAGE Target Painter > Target Painter II (fitting, cap usage)
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler > Warp Scrambler II (fitting, cap usage)
Phased Muon Sensor Disruptor > Sensor Dampener II (huge difference in fitting reqs and cap usage)
Diminishing Power System Drain > Nosferatu II (huge difference in fitting reqs)
Unstable Power Fluctuators > Energy Neutralizers II(huge difference in fitting reqs)

 * Balmer Series TD has lower CPU requirements, same amount of disruption and lower activation cost.

 * Best named web and scrambler have lower fitting as well for the same effectiveness as T2 with lower activation costs.

 * Same story for the best named Target painter and sensor dampener.

There are more out there but those are from memory.

The difference is in price. T2 is cheaper then T1 meta 4 items.

The T2 has shorter cycle time. If you can fit a T2 LRAR and handle the extra cap usage its better than the solace.

Sensor Booster II use less cap/s. So if you can fit it you should fit it.

Most plates, best named is the same armor as T2, with less mass penalty, less cpu, and less grid.

You do know that bringing light to this issue will lead ccp to nerf meta items, not boost tech II, right?

since when was the meta level anything more than a vague but inaccurate extimation of how good something is?

meta 0 to 3 not very good meta 4 better than meta 5 but being the best named item means it's very expensive so meta 5 ( i hate that lets call it T2 here from now on) so T2 is cheaper option although it might be more difficult to fit.

The only notable exception to T2 being better than best named is in weapons when ALL T2 weapons are better than best named guns thanks to the incresed damage.

best named items = very expensive easy to fit
T2 items = dirt cheap difficult to fit longer to skill for much greateer supply
