I have done a certain number of faction missions and I started to collect the tags instead of selling them for later use in the LP store.
Checking the non-affordable offers I get the idea which tags to hoard and which to sell.
Easy enough and yet something hit me.
There are several Captain Insignias but not all seem to be used. The Captain Insignia IV for example doesn't look to be required for any offer yet it has a higher value then the Captain Insignia I.
Now these tags might be usefull for another corporation but I somehow doubt this. I am flying for the Gallente Navy atm and am collecting Caldari Navy tags.
If anyone happens to know more on this subject or has a useful link (couldn't find anything of use in here) please be my guest and post it.

Not really related to your question, but a word of advice from my limited experience:
Don't necessarily save tags to buy LP items. From my calculations, in my region for example, it's cheaper for me to buy a Caldari Navy Cruise Missile Launcher on contract then spend money on tags and get it from LP store. Also, most of the contracts for that item have evaluated their LP at 1000isk/lp, while i can sell my LP's with 1500/2000 isk/lp, which means it's cheaper for me to sell my LP's and buy the item rather then spend my LP's on it.

also, dont forget that when running faction missions you will get a drop in faction standing for the target faction. If you keep this up eventually you wont be able to enter that faction space. In that regards it's better to avoid that missions and buy the tags on the market.

Only certain tags are at all useful. Keep those. Sell the rest to the Navy. Or hang on to them in the hope that one day things miight change.
Edit - You cannot directly trade or sell LP.

luckily I have no plans to go to minmatar or gallente space. been there twice in 2+ years, can't think of a reason to go. if I need a bpo, well alt in a shuttle will move that just fine.
the 100k, 500k, and 750k (based on npc buy order prices) tags are the 3 more important ones as they let you buy battleship sized mods and other useful mods like damage mods or CN invluns, and other "good" mods.
