Originally by: Swatyy It's possible. I'm one of many pilots involved in FW that play this game [Youtube.com]. Look on the Militia KBs for the top three corps in kills and then check the "solo kills" stats. Those people have both KMs and loss mails you will find useful.
Good hunting.

Kovorix Swatyy does have a point. using killmail is very usefull info. but to go back on the subject. yeah, like others said, thats not a blob and even neut domi or whatever domi is not enough for a blob. Again, like others said, a well fitted placed blob is a death trap no matter what (excluding DD of course lmao)
not even the biggest tank can help you. since its a blob you'll get a million points on you. so its just a matter of time before you go pop.

If you find a blob of enemy ships and you still have the element of surprise, you might want to go with a stealth bomber. Lob a bomb in the center of that blob and watch the fun. It's brown trousers time for the enemy.
In their haste to escape the blast zone, a few players will warp off and get separated from the herd. Go pick them off while they're still confused.

Yeh the safest bet is a nano ship that can either burn out of scram range when you need to (Taranis with AB) or stay at 20-24km and shoot from there. Minmatar and Amarr ships can be quite decent Nano ships, as well as most Interceptors and some AFs (Ishkur, Harpy). Vagabond will do fine, though keep in mind it dies almost instantly if tackled by anything and will be fighting in falloff. Nano Omen/Navy Omen/Zealot/Sacrilege can be very decent Nano ships if fit properly for the task.
Another angle is having a tank that would take a significant blob to bring down, but that's a risky gamble. Usually a blob will be like 10+ ships, which often includes a HAC and/or Recon or two, if not a bunch of BCs and DPS Cruisers. A Dominix can do this quite well by using midslots for cap boosters and lowslots for a dual LAR setup and neuts/nos in the highs.
Yet another setup would be pure 100% gankfest. Simply insta-kill the target before backup can arrive. Probably won't work all the time though.
You could also try sniping, but you'll have to be extremely careful around gates and Interceptors.
One hint: Bring ECM drones and a neut if possible to help you escape when you need to. ------------------------ Low-sec is like sailing along the coast of Somalia...

Or just fly a rokh with crystals and turn that blob into wrecks and then you don't need to run away. |

Why not get an Abbadon then? You get a resistance bonus there as well on top of a laser damage bonus. ------------------------ Low-sec is like sailing along the coast of Somalia...

I hope you didn't think I meant a laser rokh. When I said crystals I meant the implants. Fact is blobs have ECM which means no solo fight vs a blob. But to answer your question the abaddon is not a good choice because it's death is just a matter of time. Where the rokh if it can kill off enough dps quick enough can tank the remaining ships and stay in the fight because it's an active tank. Active tanks are far superior when trying to solo roam. People will tell you that solo shield bs's suck because you don't have mwd. If you're smart you don't need it to survive. But that's a whole other debate.

Basically this. I quite often fly solo in a domi. Duel Heavy Cap boosters and Duel LAR 1K omni tank + 750 DPS.
The ships are pretty cheap and if you fight noob blobs with mostly T1 fits, you can take a good 5 BC's on plus smaller stuff with out 'to much' trouble. But any gangs of more experienced players will kill any solo ship really.
If your in low sec try and get them to take sentries and your laughing.

Edited by: Omara Otawan on 07/10/2009 05:38:15 If you dont wanna hug a station or hisec gate all the time then BS is pretty much not an option.
Generally, the smaller and faster the better (but that obviously limits your target selection), and you need some experience in tricking the other guy into leaving the safety of his blob to take him out quick and run.
Interceptors (Crusader, Taranis, Claw) and AFs (Jaguar, Ishkur) can be a lot of fun, as well as cruisers (Thorax, Rupture, Arbitrator, Vexor), and BCs (Drake, Harbinger, Hurricane, Ferox, Brutix, Myrmidon, Cyclone) to some extend, though these tend to attract ganksquads fairly quick compared to cruisers.
HACs and recons also work very well, but are rather expensive, plus most people tend to run away from those that are known to be good solo ships a lot, at least in my experience.
Also, keep in mind the guys that make those impressive solo pvp videos usually leave out the dozens of times they get ganked in the process

The drake suggestion taking at least one t2 ship down as the blob consumes you is what I'd do as well. Also add as many of them to your address book as possible and accept your fate. Wake up in the vat, buy a new ship and spend some time picking them off one by one as the oppertunity presents it's self. Retribution dose not have to be instant .

Any interceptor or a vaga.
You can't always fight the blob but you can run around for a long time till you eventually get a winnable fight.
