I nearly have all the skills to fly a Sacrilege, lacking only Heavy Assault Ships and T2 heavy assault launchers/missiles. My laser skills are anemic at best, however: I have the gunnery support skills at good levels, but only Small Energy Turret III. Should I make the investment and train up to T2 medium lasers so I can fly a Zealot as well?

You will want those t2 mediums for the one truly good sub-BS ship Amarr has, the mighty Harbinger!
HACs are sub-par until you have rather high skills though, especially the cap/support skills. So don't rush it.

train your laser skills quick before CCP breaks down and does something stupid, like nerf them. we all know its coming sometime

Although I suspect people flying the Curse, Sacrilege and Crusader in particular may be surprised at seeing their ships referred to as not truly good. Then again I suppose they shine best with good skills as well.

yes, as you'll eventually want turrets for PVP anyway (instant damage as compared to missiles, very important in fleets).
