I wish it were that simple but sadly that would totally and utterly gimp the amarr with their distinct lack of mid slots.
However a rig or posibly a new type of scanner slot, would be great. ...

Who would've thought that pirates and griefers can shed even bigger tears than the carebears they mock so much? It makes me feel warm all over.

here i goooooooo......
As someone did noticed it is so easy to see the guys that never left empire and did post on this pages supporting CCP decision on scan delay of 2 sec.
Comon guys, there must be a valid reson to make thousunds of ppl rais thier voice of complain on this place. If you your self dont understand a nead to go back to old scaning method than stop writing abouth stuff you dont understand. Directional scaner is a BASE of pvp in 0.0 space and WH space too.And anyone who did try to find the target after jumping into sys knows the importanc of seconds you have before everyone see you in local chat and bail to safe place. That seconds that expiriencd pilot gain by his fast scaning whith directional scan are resault of lot of practicing, and even so most off the posibel targets will manage to escape due to fact that local chat is behaving like all mighty ubberrrrrr scaner. Probably one of the few aspect of game that was not depending of toons skill but depending on pilot experienc and his real skill to fly his ship was nerfd which some sily excuse of lag.
I say ok,nerf the scaner and reduce lag(i did not noticed any reduction, did you?) but than remove real lag couse and all mighty ubberrrr scaner called LOCAL CHAT,that extra cpu work to load all the toons in same solar sys,the real micro source for all carbears scripts, the main reson that did make all recon ships that are suposed to fly undercover and local, usles due to fact that you can be seen in local chat.
Implement Wh local chat solution to all sys and lag problem will be gone......

If you are talking about the threadnuaght in the assembly hall then that is what us olde timers call a 'union vote'. The vast majority posted there because thier main and thier ceo told them to and not because they can't adapt to the scanner changes or even ever used a scanner in the first place.
There are some issues with the d-scanner like the annoying warning message that is longer than the delay and the even more annoying auto-rescan when you change the angle but I'm sure those will get sorted next patch or so. YAAAARRRR! Where's Buttercup?! |

THIS... i can create a threadnaught too, kinda lime the CSM elections, they really don't reflect what the true population desires, but the desire of the people who field multiple accounts and skew the voting.
Noe back to the topic... like I've said 514 times, Adapt or Die... treat it like every other nerf and learn to play or back to WoW. ---- a reply which adds nothing to a thread or results in a thread being bumped with no new discussion worthy content is considered spam and as such warrants a forum ban |

It is evident to me that you are merely making an unnecessary and baseless assumption there unless you can provide something akin to evidence that will back up this claim.
I know I have signed that "threadnaught" with one of my accounts purely because it is a major obstacle to my gameplay and certainly not because anybody told me to. As far as I am aware such "threadnaughts" in the Assembly Hall are the closest to what could be considered "the official channels" that this game has when it comes to alerting the developers to player wishes.

You seem to be very angry about the directional scanner.
Most people don't care, at all, as it is a minor annoyance at best.

At Katarina Shadows,
They're not official channels. And I sure as hell hope that if CCP were ever to act based purely on numbers to an Assembly Hall thread they'd weed out the alts and extra accounts, and also take into account whether the change benefits 1 corp/alliance or indeed Eve as a whole.
If it were otherwise, Privatears would certainly always get their way .
And all this ignoring the fact that most players don't even read, much less participate in forum discussions.

This is also what us olde timers call a 'union lobbyist' responce to any charges of collusion or deck stacking.
And matrix hit it on the head as 99% of the initiative threads in the assembly hall are self serving steaming piles. YAAAARRRR! Where's Buttercup?! |

My god, I'm caught in a f**king web!
So answer me this, and a simple yes or no will suffice, have you finally stopped masturbating on public transport?

And when all else fails they resort to ad hominem attacks as a diversion to a losing argument. So predicktable. YAAAARRRR! Where's Buttercup?! |

I am a mediocre scanner, and I mainly use the d scanner to find targets in lowsec. Although it does not affect my gameplay tremendously, when a target is rapidly warping around from belt to belt, it is extremely hard to pinpoint them before they move on to another belt while having to wait 2 seconds in between your scans.
The second annoying part is that the banner comes up right in the middle of the screen, and stays up there for hugely unnecessary amounts of time after the delay is actually over. Either put the scanner back how it was, reduce the delay, or at least take off that god awful banner, make it last only as long as the actual delay.

Edited by: Feilamya on 22/09/2009 18:59:28 I like this change. The directional scanner was overpoweredand gave players who knew how to use it an unfair advantage. With this nerf, idiots now have a fair chance in the whole game of run, hide and catch. It adds more randomness to the game, which is good, because even an idiot can have luck, whereas skill is an unfairly distributed privilege.
And of course, it reduces lag. CCP said it, so it must be true.

i agree it is a pain to scan anything quickly...
i think it would have been a better idea to alow say 10 uses of the scanner and then force a short break
(whilst the scanner cools down perhaps)
so if your rubbish at scanning you loose.
