a single heavy pulse laser gives me on average 50 dmg. a dual heavy pulse laser also gives me on average 50 dmg with the same crystal type. now since it is a DUAL weapon should i not be getting to rounds per shot for 50 each shot or maybe they would combine for 100 instead of leaving me with a measly 50? even a wrecking pefect **** only merrits 115 dmg.

No.
No 'dual' weapon does double the damage of its medium-sized variant, and for good reason. Look at the damage output of the large weapons versus medium weapons. They don't hit more than twice as hard, thus making the duals do double damage over mediums would make them horribly, horribly unbalanced.

Multifrequency S: 12dmg total Multifrequency M: 24dmg total Multifrequency L: 48dmg total
Large guns do twice as much damage as medium guns. ________________________________________________________

but...
Heavy pulse: damage mod 3, rof 5.25, normalized .571 Dual Heavy Pulse: Damage mod 2, Rof 6.075, normalized .379
So, definitly not twice. A slightly better comparison is heavy pulse vs Mega pulse, which have the same damage mod, but the mega fires almost 3 seconds slower, eight sec vs 5 sec. "Speak quietly and carry a big torpedo."

i would say that anything dual would hit more often and thats it it would cause more damage but maybe over time if you get more hits , wich you should.

You said 'hit'. A heavy pulses battleship size equivilent, the megapulse would 'hit' twice as hard. You never said anything about ROF ect.

Dual heavy pulse is not related to the heavy pulse in terms of class.
Medium Pulse > Heavy Pulse > Mega Pulse
Dual Light Pulse > Focused Medium Pulse > Dual Heavy Pulse ________________________________________________________

Would you like a magnifying glass to help split those hairs a bit easier? You know what I'm saying, you're just being pedantic.
By your logic, the 1400mm Howitzer is teh pwnzor because it has the highest damage multiplier of any (non-named) weapon in the game.
Fact is, large weapons do not have double the damage-over-time as medium weapons, so any suggestion that dual weapons should behave the same as two mediums-sized weapons put together doesn't wash.

this question crops up regular as clockwork. It's easy to get confused because of the naming and imagine 2x heavy pulses working together. Fact is it's just a name and the stats have got nothing to do with medium sized guns. Just think of them as 'superpulse' and all will become clear
