I would like to see in the upcoming expension that capitals get a 5 min (or whatever seems to be good) agro timer for docking instead of 1 minute. All these station hugging moros`s for example are extremly hard to kill. If you pvp you should have a considerable chance of losing your ship.
You need a very huge and well prepared gang to have a chance to destroy a moros in 1 min. In systems with gates positioned far away from the station this time window is even much smaller with a regular roaming gang.
i write this in here because i saw that there will be alot of testing with the upcoming sissi patches, i think that this needs to be tested and properly recognized as problem in current game-dynamics as well.
thx o/

Edited by: 40 Cent on 15/09/2009 23:02:46 okay :-) the following devblog was just posted: http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=696
"Dreads will remain unchanged with one small exception - the Moros will only receive its drone damage bonus if it is in siege mode."
...but i will still leave this topic around, it would be still a good change for carriers

I think making docking timers relative to ship class makes a lot of sense. Small ships docking faster, larger docking slower.
Would make station games in big ships a lot more dangerous...and less pointless.

This. Very good idea. Station-hugging huge ships are extremely annoying...

Or you could, you know, not camp ships at station. If the ship doesn't come out for awhile, leave to find something else to fight or dock up and wait for it to undock. Bump it out of docking range ? If you can't kill it fast enough, then you don't deserve a "All I got was this KM" t-shirt.

since the mass/bumping got changed last time you cant really bump a capital anymore without using another capital (even with 100mn mwd hurricane + skirmish) - and if you do cyno caps in, the chances are extremly slim that they will bump it and its not really a matter of how you do it, its just random luck.
1 min is really short for a cap, the pilot will deagress when the local is going up; in the worst case scenario your ships will have to alingn, warp serval au`s, fall out of warp, lock the thingy (okay this is not a big problem :-D) and then maybe half of a minute is gone. So its not about great tactics here (having a jump bridge helps of course) - its just the "i have alot of buddies" principle again; a small corp with; lets say 30 active pilots in gang and the best fc have simply no chance at all to kill 1 person who is perfectly exploiting the game mechanics.
even if moros are out of the game now, its still easy to camp a station with carriers and use some cheap boosted fastlocker for pointing - in "pvp" there should be always a considerable amout of risk to keep the game in balance

Edited by: 40 Cent on 16/09/2009 21:13:09 Edited by: 40 Cent on 16/09/2009 21:11:13 not impossible but very hard to kill, espacially for smaller entitys.
If your are not a "big" alliance with like at least ~50 gank battleships in active gang (and maybe a jumpbridge) or have a nice number of dreads you simply cant do anything against this one person.
if the fight would happen somewhere in space, there could be alot of fun going on - but like this its very onesided.

Edited by: Anon Amarr on 16/09/2009 21:15:32 They arent impossible at all, what you need to do is this Find a carrier. (not caldari or amarr) Bait it. cyno in 5+ dreads, siege and let rip. If its a caldari or amarr carrier, you will probably need 6-7 dreads.
No problem at all.
The thing is, you need to field atleast 10bn isk in order to have a shot at killing a <1 bn isk ship. And while Im not agreeing its impossible, I would agree that perhaps it is slightly uneven.

i never said its generally impossible; i just said that smaller entitys cant do alot about it and i also agree that the amount of work spent here is just too high

'Baiting' a capital off station isn't exactly normal, most cap pilots are either too smart or too scared to lose a cap like that.
Of course it does and has happened before but in general it doesn't.

It definitely belongs in features and ideas, but it's a great idea. I like the idea of hull-based session change timers. I wonder how changing this would affect docking in a station after jumping though. Or how long I have to sit outside of station before I can jump away. That could get annoying. I'd hope freighter hulls (T1 & 2) would have fairly short session change timers. -- Flame on. |

I think he only wanted to change the agression timer, when you engage the enemy.

It would make even more sense if no aggression at all should be possible in docking range. The idea that a station, whose existence is dependent on the flow of traffic, does not police its own front yard and allows armed vigilantes to fight there is ridiculous.

its really just about changing game mechanics to improve the combat - not realism for me :-)
