Eve is a harsh place and thus you can find youself on opposite sides of a war with yesterdays friends so even these reasons may not be enough. .

There is no penalty for looking inside a courier package. Also one of the options will give you just the ship ('break' iirc). The other will give you the ship & plastic wrap ('repackage' I think). Granted the plastic wrap isn't all that usefull for anything, but it is nice to have around.

The right thing to do is to just complete the contract. Not that you didn't already know that... Yet, I don't think the guy that made the contract has any understanding of paying labor commensurate to the work, how to prevent theft, or that ethics don't last more than 15 seconds in an unmoderated, unregulated capitalism simulator. I think that makes a failed delivery fall under "should have seen it coming."

I think the moral dilemma I had was that I know I'm playing other REAL people...not the computer. (I know, it's pathetic 'cause it's just a game.) I don't like exploiting people's ignorance....unless they are an enemy. So my decisions seem to be based on that. I do keep a ****-list of everyone that ever podded me though....and I'll be coming for you SOON.

If he didnt look like an obvious tard then most likely I would tell him what I could do, why the contract was stupid and where his mistake was. I would complete the courier properly most likely, particularly as it all involves a mediocre amount of isk.

Eve is a game and thus role-players are justified in getting their kicks any way that is permissible in-game.
