After reading through and participating in the Joe Phoenix thread, the thought occured to me that Joe Phoenix will be remembered for quite some time, perhaps documented in EVE's history as one of the worst CEO's ever.
So, I got to wondering, who else is considered infamous and for what reasons? Now personally I don't pay much attention to the 'big' politics in EVE. I log on, have a laugh with my mates and log off, but even I have heard of a few. Who else is there?
Chribba - The biggest 3rd party transaction merchant ever?
Joe Phoenix - Worst CEO in the history of EVE
Riddle (spelling?) - The guy that pulled off the EBank embezzlement / heist

There is a differance between "famous" and "infamous", the latter indicating some kind of negative characteristic.
I accidentally called Don LaFontaine infamous in a chat recently, but it was probably a wrong characterization.

Let's see...from a C&P point of view of folks who haven't been mentioned yet.
El'Tar for being an infamous pilots (#3 on battleclinic. Even says so on his sig.)
Garmon for being an alt of El'Tar (sadly, no longer) who aside from being a most kick-ass pilot, was also a most excellent forum presence.
Larkonis Trassler for being the first piratical CSM. And subsequently flubbing it and resigning.
Vladimir Norkoff for being the head of the IRS.
And while Joe Phoenix might be the worst CEO found yet. The only thing more infinite than the universe is the capacity for human stupidity. I'm willing to lay isk that someone will surpass him at some point. Whether or not it will be soon, one can never tell.

CCP really owe that guy, for putting Eve on the map.
Chribba, for desperately mopping up after the Devs and all their (I do apologise) shortcomings.
Verone, I suppose, is quite infamous, if only because it's hard to fly through Eve (or open the starmap) and not see his influence (whether you realise it is his influence or not).
Finally, TankCEO would have to be the most infamous, but I blame Google algorithms for that (search for Eve and try not to find something about him) - if he wasn't so arrogant I would never have heard of him...
...except perhaps for all his smacktalk on... (wait for it!) ... Sisi

Chribba- only person in eve you can trust with your sister, or with super capitals. Also known for mining veldspar in a dreadnaught, and titans.

Lofty, Istvaan, FarJung(spelling?), Miz, Simply put the entirity of 0utbreak (never got to fly with them eventhough i prayed every day i would), Tiller, etc.etc.etc. since there are so many people that are either already named or will be named.
I even found a chatlog from early 2006 when i started my carreer and seeing Lofty42(one of his earlier characters i presume), Istvaan and Farjung in the same local chat (Maut or surrounding systems) when i at the time had no clue whatsoever who the hell they where. Reading it now makes me feel special

To know that I do not even need to know very much about the game. It's enough to read the chat logs of this IEEE guy who quite obviously gets aroused when people he harasses come and beg for mercy, which he then denies.

When I started 5 years ago, he had to be the most infamous scammer of the time. Everyday there would be at least 1 or 2 new posts about him scamming some guy through lab slots.

This whole famous/infamous argument is not new to me. I remember having this same argument with a guy back in my Everquest days who used the word infamous in his forum name. He absolutely refused to believe me that infamous had a negative connotation even after I posted a dictionary definition.

Yep that's correct, it shows statistics of the period the pilot IS/WAS active rather than from first post to Now.
Gives a more accurate display of a pilots behavior imo. When X was active the average etc was Y.

Dont know if anyones mentioned him already but NightFreeze was somewhat infamous way back for writing a story about an alleged scam (either details are blurred or it never happened at all sadly) but the story was pretty kickass, I read it bout a week into the game and it was one of the reasons I stuck around :D

Welsh Wizard - One of the best pilots in EVE I've seen, and I've never been on positive standings to him.

I think it was Miz cenuij who got Ginger Magician banned. He scammed him for a lot of billions and then pod killed him. Then he taunted him from a station until Ginger made a RL threat and got himself banned. I remember reading an article in Massivley.com about it.
Miz has always been thee lowest form of life in Eve, a real social engineer :(

Krall Amarr.
Never have I wanted to do violence to a virtual character more. Among other things, the little sh*t rented out alliance ratting space to macros and ISK farmers, invited them to the alliance so that us pilots could defend them while they just cloaked up, then took all the "rent" money for himself instead of recycling it back. He's a thief, a cheat, and an all-around douche. The story is way move involved than that, but just his involvement with RMT puts him on the list in my books.
I feel sorry for the person who bought the character, because I will go out of my way to ruin that character's day any time i see him in local (or hear he's a jump away).

But this is about infamous people. Infamous people are not good for various reasons and awesome.

That's pretty much the opposite of infamous. You have people in your list like Chribba which are anything but infamous. Your actually insulting people like Chribba by saying he isn't trustworthy. First to make difference between being famous and infamous.
Chribba is famous. For his services and honesty. He is not infamous as he never did any act to make him like that. There are more examples of people nominated wrong way.
Top 1 place is tie between Lord Zap and TankCEO. No one was known and feared as those two were.
Others are hard to put in order but there is plenty of them, both persons and corps.

I lost my very first ship a badger I think to Frankinator who was about 150km from the gate - I was hauling garbage or something and thought woow the money, didn't realise the route was low sec and that was before insta-warp.
There's lots of infamous people in eve though, some past, present, hilariously funny, hilariously funny in a cringemaking way and others so dastardly that you have to wonder if you would actually employ them to do a job involving money or items in real life.
I think however what hasn't been said so far (I haven't read ALL the forums) belongs to a group of characters. The group that creates the loudest drama bombs in 0.0 alliances while providing little to nothing in return for a base, that was - until they arrived spouting crap - secure and happy.
