I'm not usually one for whining. More often than not I'm the one extracting tears...
...and I know it's probably for 'the greaer good'...
...but are there any other traders out there that are finding these API outages a real pain in the rear?
Just to add some value in this thread (beyond my whining), how many traders rely heavily on apps that use the API, and how do you use them?
I use 'Out of Eve' many times a day, usually to get a sense as to whether it's time to log-in and set-up some sell orders, but also as a distraction at work. I use EMMA once a day to review the day's activities.

I use it mostly to track orders and see how much money I'm making. So while it's irritating, it's not crippling.

It's not 'gamebreaking' but as i use i.e. Emma now for tracking closed orders it is slightly incovenient. On the other hand you learn what a great job CCP did with the API's and the world of oppertunities it gave for "3rd" party developers.

My auditing service ATM is completely halted due to that. No API => No way to check people's claims.

Doesn't affect my profits etc and trade in general but i find it nice to view how my markets doing when not at home specially now since my good laptop is being repaired and i am stuck at home with a piece of crap.For example now at work and wanted to check how things are going but can't.
So yes annoying but a pain in the ass i won't call it.

As a 3rd party developer I can also say, that API outages are also causing an increase in support calls. Sadly not everyone does recognize the announcement for planed API outages.

It is a huge pain for me, I use the API a lot and the game interface is no sensible replacement for what I do.
Yes it can be done with in-game info and a piece of paper but it takes 10x as long.

The outages are a real pain to me, I spend more time playing eve lately at computers that don't/can't have the eve client on them lately. Out of game tools help me keep track of what's happening what needs doing and where im upto. That way when I finally manage to snatch a couple of hours on the actual client I know exactly what Im going to do and how im going to do it and don't spend time working out where im upto.

Had the API not come online this monday, I would not have been able to do monday evenings BIG Lottery draw - Which would influence the close to 400 people taking part.
Thankfully the timing, this time, didnt influence the draw.
It creates other annoyances as well - Some forums rely on (limited) API keys for verification etc. Not a gamebreaker as such, as long as the timeframe of the outtage isnt BIGger than it is.
But an annoyance none the less.
*However*, I can easily live with all of that - I'm just thankfull that we actually *have* an API.
