Bring something with bigger guns and similar buffer.
Actually, an Ishkur or Jaguar could probably do the trick with an AB fit and some tank, though the Ishkur would probably run out of cap boosters before the Drake dies and the Jag might get tickled to death before the Drake does.
However, on another note, I now have one of those annoying sigs. |

Bc vs bc? Exiled dualrep myrmidon, slaved harbi or lsb cyclone with crystals.
But generally is better to bring blob  .
And i dont think 1 af can do something about drake atm. Maybe in dominion...

Eh, the Ferox is pretty useless too. TBH, they should totally nix the class system for battlecruisers. They're all Tier 2, and they all cost that much too. Or a middle ground... but it really sucks to be a Caldari turret pilot and find that you really don't *HAVE* a battlecruiser, or be a turret spec Gallente pilot and find that you only have a crappy BC, etc.

Dont believe the hype...caldari drake rocks. But u need skills and experience. As said several rimes above take Rifter/Merlin a take some kills loses. Then try the same with cruiser. Once u ready get drake. I did the mistake and now after more then year i am bakck in drake.

You won't kite Jav, not with anything capable of taking the Drake down in a sensible time frame, anyway. AB AFs just get webbed and killed, it's not a contest, even with sentry guns on their side - they don't have the tank or EHP to survive. A HG Slave Harbinger can do it, but you're relying on your skills being significantly better than your opponents.
To win in a BC 1v1 you need something with a big active tank. Exile Myrm or Crystal-Blue Pill Cyclone would worry me. Elsewhere, an Absolution would scare me, but I'd fancy my chances against a Sleipnir or Astarte, although Exile/Blue Pill/Crystals may well cause terminal problems there. Other than that, just drop a BS on it, because a well-fitted Drake is not too far off the combat power of a BS.

I only loose my Drake when I am outblobbed, or against say a proper BS.
ECM can be a pain tho 
As for command ships, they are kinda trick to take out, that damn Abso got sooo much EM damage

Here's another fit to consider:
7x HML
1x small nos/neut
mwd
24k scram
2x LSE
2x invul
3x BCU
co-pro
Still requires the PG implant for t2 LSE, or drop to meta 4 I guess. Alternatively use cpu implant to avoid using co-pro, still very tight on fittings and you'll need to drop something down to meta 4, either invul or tackle to 20km point (:(). Co-pro is better overall imo.
Pros: A lot more range on HM, has extra LSE for more buffer (20k shield HP total).
Cons: Less DPS (100 or so), lacks second tackle mod so you better hope your drake is faster than the other ship (not likely), no damage control.

Solo PVP in EVE?
That thought is where you started to go wrong.
Forget the mindset of solo PVP. Fit for what role the fleet needs you are flying with.
I also think it's amusing people think small buffer tanks make good solo PVP ships. I would be happy to see someone with just a buffer try to solo gank me :)

Ok people, THIS ^^ is why its possible to be successful at solo pvp. You get people that are over confident.

Drake is awsome silly tank with small dps. mine has a passive recharge rate of 200s and very high damage type percentages... :D cap is stable for 14 mins (should be enough). and that with havy missiles fitted... :D If I put a med shield booster on it the cap lasts some where near 5 mins and is longer then most battles last.. :D
So to the original poster in this thread
1. Get your skills up before trying it, you will loose alot of ships if you dont.
2. Fit the drake for passive recharge of shields and with damage types in mind.
3. I am not posting fitting's etc this is a general descussion go on battleclinic for that or use evemon, theres some good fittings on there.. :D

Generally speaking, the quality of fit suggested on battleclinic is much less than the quality of fit suggested here.
