Best 60 mil mining ship?

Weix	Posted - 2004.10.25 07:37:00 - [1] Hi all, I know the Apoc with 8x miner2 is awesome for mining, but i dont have a 100 mil or more to spend. I do however have about 60 mil and therefore i was wondering what u people consider the best buy in this price-class when it comes to mining. I was thinking of the Armagedon with 7x miner2 and 2500 m3 drone bay. The Dominix has 'only '6 turret hardpoints and requires lots of harvesters (a 4-5 mil) to be competitive. So when the budget is like 60-70 mil...what would u do? Thx for any replies.

Mangold	Posted - 2004.10.25 08:36:00 - [5] Don't forget the Minmatar Scythe. 3 Miner 2 and a 20% mining bonus / level Min Cruiser isn't bad. And it's cheap too. You could go for the Dominix and use Basic Mining drones too. They're slower than Harvesters but much cheaper. I wouldn't use Harvesters in any place except 1.0 systems anyway.

Weix	Posted - 2004.10.26 07:15:00 - [11] Thx for the replies. I think ill stick with the Armageddon. Even with the knowledge that when Shiva comes out there will be cheap 8xminer2 mining vessels... And these might have the mining potential of an Apoc but will be sitting ducks with little shield and armor, being slow as hell and (probably) will lack combat drone capabilities for defense. Ofcourse the Arma doesnt have these disadvantages. So that 60 mil will be well spend i think.

Thimerion	Posted - 2004.10.26 09:37:00 - [13] If you plan on going mining in 0.0 the dominix is the only option... It can fit 6 miner 2's and can armor tank very well. The drones can take out everything up to 2 500K BS spawns or 1 1M spawn. Got Sigs?

Though the Arma has a potential 7th Miner II point, it needs a lot of Coprocessors to make them fit. The Domi also has a huge drone bay and with the bonus to drone control you can have 8 Basic Mining Drones (about the same as a Miner II with average skills) and a few more for defense simultaneously Alternatively, the Retreiver is a 10m alternative that can outmine the best Mining cruiser at similar skill lvls, and the Coveter at 40m, which if you are willing to train the pre-requisites, can outmine even the Apoc by about 25-30% with the same skills, and by about 40-50% with the T2 strip miners and appropriate mining crystals (don't think they're available yet though). Without crystals the standard strip miner is better than it's T2 equivalent...in keeping with CCPs new take on T2 items being the same or worse than their standard counterparts ------------- BYOC Crow Interceptor Deals
