It seems there's no scanning recalibration on SiSi now
I want to urge everyone to pray to the deity of your choice that this makes it to TQ in the next patch.
Massive ♥ CCP for sorting this!

Edited by: Josefius on 01/10/2009 13:31:25 I never spammed my directional scanner until I was blue in the face, so it doesn't make any difference to me. Big woop.
Would I would like to see is them to stop noobing the skill requirements for Hacking and Archeology etc. There are enough people swarming sites that I'm in, it's just going to get worse now.

How dare those other subscribers access your content.
On topic: Excellent news, anyone aware of how to actually use the scanner to track down a target will know that while spamming it is not required being able to rapidly scan several celestials is an absolute must.

I wouldn't mind it that much, but just last night I found a site and was Decoding a tower and 2 people warped in and one just came up to my tower while I was on it and blatantly scanned it grabbed the stuff and left. Not so much as a hello or anything, pretty damn rude. Most people will be cool about it and say hey, mind if I grab some? But it's been this swarm of *******s that barge into your site and **** all over everything.

Hahaha yeah, I bet if it was 1 isk a use, it would grow in the millions in just a few minutes per user.

It isnt just the time limit, its how it tell you.
you hit scan at a 90 degree angle, you move it the camera 90 degrees and scan again, "you cannot do this cos your scanning too fast" comes up, but you dont know weather it it has or hasnt worked and what your seeing on your scanner is from which of the directions you just pionted at...
its extremly annoying so nice to see CCP will take the minor database hit for a general playability reason, how delightfully sane of them!

Maybe it was needed, but it was implemented in an extremely bad way and was probably overkill.

This is a temporary change on Sisi and I'm afraid this does not mean that the trottle timer is going to be removed. It might be shortened, but not removed.

Or just make the first 1000 attempts per day ignore the throttle.
I'm sure you could come up with a # that wouldn't harm normal players who aren't hammering the the button twenty times a second 60 hours a minute 23 hours a day but would cut down on the load due to macro'ers.

At least sort out the ****ed-up functionality whereby you don't know whether your attempt to scan worked or not, because you still have that bloody message up from your last attempt to scan.

2 seconds is bloody stupid and annoying. Makes it take significantly longer to locate prey. 1 second would be passable, provided THIS IS SORTED OUT:
Originally by: Gypsio III At least sort out the ****ed-up functionality whereby you don't know whether your attempt to scan worked or not, because you still have that bloody message up from your last attempt to scan.
This is a much worse issue. Sometimes you spend 4-5 seconds double checking things because you're not sure whether you scanner worked or not, since there is no way, to in fact, know.
It was done in a horribly sloppy way.
Do it in a way where it's intuitively clear whether you can scan right now or not, for starters.

Ok then, but PLEASE lower the timer!! Two seconds is too much. And, equally important, make the scanner button unclickable instead of showing that message in the middle of the screen. The player really needs to know if their click resulted in a scan or not.

Set the delay to 1 second.
Remove that annoying as crap message and put in a pop up with a check box to never be shown again.
Remove the auto-rescan on angle change.
Add a range slider over the scan distance input field much like the angle slider preset from 14 au down to .1 au.
Those changes should make happy scanners out of the majority once more.

There was already a great solution suggested in some thread somewhere
Add some kind of 'heat' and 'cooldown' mechanic so taht if you scan very often for a long period of time you can't scan for a while, but you can still scan very frequently for a short amount of time (which is all you really need)

I think what Eve needs for the enforced timers is something like a action queue.
"I can not do this now but I will do it automaticly when the time is up. The scanning will be done in 1 second." Boarding your Caldari Shuttle "El***ER's Caldari Shuttle" in 12 seconds.

In the 4 years I've been scanning and kiling ppl, i never realised it was broken. In fact the only person who seemed to think there was a problem was the individual implementing the change. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

1 sec would be much better already, and yes the annoying message needs to go. Ideally the button will simply be disabled while the timer is running. Range slider would be great but the ability for manual input must stay. So probably rather a range dropdown/combo box to save space.

Do you think you can add in a mechanic so that people can spam the scanner when first entering a system in order to scan many belts but disallow macros and people sitting in a system from spamming scan?
All we want is the "trottle" gone during the first 30 seconds when we enter a new system when scanning down NPCers, other than that we don't really care. Please listen to your customers, CCP Evince, whoever the f you are.
Originally by: CCP Whisper So you're going to have to do some actual thinking with regards to hull components and their capabilities instead of copying some cookie-cutter setup. Cry some more.
