Looking for the best video editing I can get for under or around $100.00 US. Will be using Fraps to catch video. Also the preferred compression software. Want to add text, fade in,fade out, you know all the good stuff. Have been looking at Movie Edit 2005, magix.net but would like options of other movie makers in EVE on what they prefer and why.
Thanks!

Leafo is the one to ask, I'll still trying to find out what he uses to make his movies, the clarity is what gets me the most, so Leafo if you read this, tell us what you use please! Hope it doesn't cost anything

I believe Leafo uses Adobe Premier, though I'm not sure which version.

That crap crashes all the time. Use semi-professional software for movie editing

Yeah, Adobe Premiere is like $600.00. I can't justify that kinda funds for EVE movies, I would never use it for anything other than EVE. So it would go to waste. |Father of 1|Master of All| |

Well, you can download 30-day trial version of Ulead Video Editor here. Ulead used to make quite nice video editing programs, though i have no idea if the trial version has any built-in limitations... o.O

Edited by: Seleene on 26/10/2004 21:40:29 I use Adobe Premiere now. Prior to that, I used Windows Movie Maker 2, which comes with WIN XP Pro. As for just being able to string clips together...
The Everlasting Vendetta Contract
Click on this link for other BDCI vids. WMM is not the best there is but it's free easy to learn and use and it's got more potential than people generally give it credit for.

Well, if you just wanna string and cut some pieces of ganks and space together and put 1 soundtrack to it and some titles/captions then almost any prog you can find out there will do, be it pinnacle or windows movie maker or whatever. But that is also about what you can expect from the 100 euro class of programs. You won't find multiple audiotracks, you won't find unlimited videotracks, many effects and things to play around with. Perhaps a good comparison to the semi-professional programs would be comparing MS Paint with Photoshop, simple editing is possible but the programs limits will be obvious very soon. In Premiere I can pretty much launch it and just start playing around and find out new things all the time, and I'm fairly sure the same applies to most other people who use it. What premiere offers is a really good overall package of a workspace + project management + sequencebased editing + effects, which as the semi-professional thing implies pretty much is enough for anyone unless you are actually making a movie and need to get the more specific postprocessing stuff for sound, effects, and so forth... ________________________________

Try virtual dub(free) if you need something that can handle editing and compressing.
It is not anywhere as easy to do fancy stuff like in premier but for stright forward videos/audio mixing it works just fine.
