Tip For Shortening Those 10 Minute Log In Times!

After logging in the first time each day make a copy of these three files. Only copy them if the machoCachedMethodCalls5.dat and machoCachedObjects5.dat files are larger than 1k or this tip will not work. If they are only 1k then undock from the station and wait a few seconds until they are around 900k to 1.5M. The machoMethodCallCachingDetails5.dat is always 1k so don't worry about it but you still need to copy it. <EVE Installation Folder>\cache\machoCachedMethodCalls5.dat <EVE Installation Folder>\cache\machoCachedObjects5.dat <EVE Installation Folder>\cache\machoMethodCallCachingDetails5.dat Later that same day if you try to log in and it sits at "GOT UNITS" (anyone with dial-up knows what I'm talking about) just right click on the progress bar and close it. Close EVE completely. Copy the three files above back into the <EVE Installation Folder>\cache\ folder and launch the game again. This time it should blast right past the login and take you directly to your character selection screen instantly. After each downtime you will have to log in normally and wait the 10 or so minutes at least once to get the new files but after that this tip works until the next downtime. Those of us with multiple accounts and dial-up should really find this helpful. --------------------------------- "Guardian Of The Cheese"

Arathian Evasion	Posted - 2004.10.27 11:56:00 - [5] woot? so you have to copy each day after downtime..? why not use 10 minuttes to log in instead of using 5-10 minuttes to copy those files each day.. it doesnt take long for me to log in, but if my eve took 10 minuttes i would go get something to drink take a ****, and get back.. instead of copy pasting.. dunno how it is for you guys, maybe its easier.. Putting them back takes even less time since I have a batch file that does it for me with a shortcut on the desktop. Restoring the files takes less than half a second. This to me is far more preferable than waiting 10 minutes to log in when I'm home for lunch or trying to log in a different account just to start a skill training. 10 minutes is quite a long time when you are just staring at the monitor waiting for something to happen. --------------------------------- "Guardian Of The Cheese"

I have over 1000 in my buddies (for a very good tactical reason) and even on my 3meg link it takes me around 10 minutes. So, you might want to get rid of "spare" address book contacts Be lucky! As a test I just logged in without copying the files on a alt account and it took exactly 11 minutes and 32 seconds. I don't know what is in these .dat files but I've been using this trick for about 6 months now and it works fine on all of my accounts. --------------------------------- "Guardian Of The Cheese"
