Edited by: Istvaan Shogaatsu on 29/10/2004 15:28:54 Wow, carebears can be pretty dim. Ever consider that we play this game to fight wars, and getting paid for it is just icing on the cake?
Anyway, ruro of Cold Fusion Inc. We're not paid to "prevent them making money", we're paid to shoot them until they die. Thank you for your description of us as the worst merc corp in Eve, as coming from an ally of our target it is the greatest indicator of our effectiveness we could ask for.
Oh, p.s.:
Originally by: Camador So like i was hired to come fight this super expensive awsome good merc corp but you guys dont fight?
So like you were hired to come fight this merc corp, but when it came down to actual fighting, you ran from the battlefield leaving your mate to die and lose his battleship to us? Thought you wanted a fight, not to show off your rear engines.

Originally by: Wormfoot Since you've been a paid a flat fee, a long war should be a bad thing in your books, since your hourly profit goes down with every second that ticks off the clock. Eventually, your pilots will tire of fighting for no ongoing rewards and lose interest. In the flat-fee situation, a war of attrition and harassment works in your victim's favor; all he has to do is wait you out.
Agreeing to a long engagement for a flat fee is short sighted, and strikes me as poor leadership.
Yep, that's the point I was trying to make.
Originally by: flummox not ALL people base their decisions on money. perhaps istvaan is doing what his corp has asked him to do?
Regardless, it's still not a great business decision.
i understand that. what i was saying was: "what if it's not a business decision based solely on financial gain?"... agreed that it is not a wise decision for the corp if they are out to profit financially. but, if they are simply out to gank the other corp, then a long engagement (plus the fee) is definitely a good decision...
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |

I fail to see how you can "shoot them until they die" so long as they are making money to easily replace any losses you can inflict...i mean the only thing you can do is cost them ship/clone cost and so long as they make more money than that, i don't see what the point is...i mean sure, you are annoying to some, but where is the "OMG WE HAVE TO DISBAND" feeling supposed to come from? I would think that, should the war drag on indefinately, eventually you'd lose more money than your flat fee originally gained you. After that point you'd actively have to spend money to keep up the war effort, where as YF only fights you when they feel like it, and if you start totally owning them all, they will just quit undocking their mains, and still make money just like they always did...
YF's main objective in this game is to make money, having people to fight when they get bored is just icing on the cake... |

I wasn't calling you the carebear in that case; rather I was referring to Wormfoot. And I don't think we ever called ourselves "tough as nails", little buddy.

Considering you call yourself one of the most expensive merc corps around, you'd think you'd at least lie and say you were pretty good at what you did...

We're waiting for our allies' war declarations to go through, then we'll have some fun.
As of now, I believe that the kill count on our side is 4 interceptors. 1 of them is thanks to our good friend Tetsuo Shogaatsu accidentally shooting a neutral and getting ganked by CONCORD .
Still, not a bad killcount for a group of miners who are having to fire their first shots ever at someone. We're having fun, I'm sure Istvaan's group is having fun, so please don't smack unless you're directly involved in the war.
P.S. This war isn't affecting our production side of the corp at all, seeing as how we never even have to undock to produce. Let's see how long your employers can pay 500m/week for
P.P.S. Regarding the spy thing: We're in TOURIER. Wire my ISK to Eldred Jonas, please. Thanks.
This is what i get for wishing you luck in your next corp? How rude

Saying we're expensive doesn't imply we're the best, merely that we cost way more than the next guy. We leave labels such as "best mercs" to our clients to use in reference to us if they're happy with our work.

To put the stupid flaming aside, yes and we did lose a scorp. But that happens in war. I'm not too worried about whether GHSC will lose ships because it will happen. And once all of our peeps are under -2.5 sec you'll see. Only way to combat gankers is with gankers , going to be interesting to fight ya'll.

Nice, twisted logic there. If you judge success from my comments on your lack of effectiveness, then more power to you, I suppose.
On an entirely different matter where did my character portraits on the forums go .

Oh I know. GHSC just lost a Raven to CK under the funniest conditions imaginable. We accept ship loss as inevitable, even though that was the first battleship we ever lost. Only reason I brought it up, is because YF made a big stink of us losing 3 interceptors on the first day of war.
