Hey there
I've done a ton of exploration in my time but I've only ever found 1 DED plex. Is there anything I can do to improve my chances? Is the a certain sig resolution bracket I should be looking for?
Thanks in advance

With the current number of people exploring nowadays, the chances of you finding a DED plex are rather low. Additionally, even if you do find it, someone probably found it before you and may be already running it (especially in highsec).
There's not too much you can do except try to scan around areas that less people tend to go. ---

Just to emphasize what the above poster said, high sec exploration is ridiculously competitive now. I only check systems I am passing through if there are 1-5 people in them, and never in Caldari space.
You can have better results in some of the quieter regions, like Khanid space, and particularly so in station-less systems.
Low sec is also very appealing if you can find a quiet area. _____________________________________________

Confirming that lowsec is where it's at.

In highsec, I have not seen the 4/10 blood (Mul-Zatah) nor the 3/10 sansha ded plex in hisec since the last 2 client patches (= since apocryphra 1.5.1). They apparently only spawn in lowsec now, and appear (in hisec) to have been replaced with the 2 sites called: Sansha Vigil and Blood Vigil.

Vigils were always there and DEDs 3&4 didn't go anywhere, they are still in highsec _____________ I don't care what is nerfed, as long as it's not my "undock" button. |

Bad luck. I did 3/10 sansha twice last week. Also 4/10 guristas 2 days ago.

Or you may run it only to have someone sneak in and steal the nice loot once you've done all the hard work....

Thanks for the responses. I only explore in low sec so that's not an issue, what I'd like to know is if here is some way of 'filtering out' all the other stuff, I don't want to have to confirm every signature in a system. Is there some indicating from the initial scan whether a sig is worth seeking out?

In theory, each particular DED complex as well as exploration site suppose to have the same signature strength across all systems. Therefore, I have found Mul-Zatah with different sig strength in different systems. I am not quiet sure if it depends on system sec status or anything else. May be it got fixed with last path since Gusrista Outposts I have found all had the same sig.
Once you find DED once upon a time, for example Guristas Troop Reinvigoration Camp notice signature ID, reenter system drop 1 probe with max size and check out the strength. it will give you raffle idea about what range you can expect the same complex afterwards.
Most reliable way is to use dead space probes with 256AU range and place probe at some place equally distanced from all planets. due to low strength of this probes and huge range the position of the probe within the system, or distance from probe to signature will make a little difference on result, unless you eventually place probe really close to sig.
try to move probe a bit. For example Mul-Zatah, provide signature strength 0.34-0.36 from border to border.
therefore, depending on your skills, gear and probes type and scanning implantants you may have, this figure will probably be different.
Also, in the same range there can be other types of signatures like WHs, Ladars and Radars, even gravimetric sites, witch have tendency to have weakiest signatures of all.
Bottom line: expect invest some time and effort to find plexes first and make own list of signatures range for particular DED/exploration sites.
Therefore, with sisters core probes strength around 160-170 it is matter of couple of minutes to cut out very low and too high signatures and focus on what you expect to be a jack pot. p.s. feel free convo me in game if you have some specific questions.
cheers

I recently spent a few days exploring in Bleak Lands/Devoid low sec. The success rate there was less than I see in high-sec. I guess I must have found an area that other people were checking regularly. Nonetheless, it's not always true that low-sec is great for exploration.
