1) Be able to sit and gank people in low sec systems 
2) Log off at the first sign of trouble
3) Smacktalk endlessly

you can pirate as soon as you like... just head out to a 0.1-0.4 system, find a 'deserted mining outpost' or similar spawn/mission location, and pick your targets carefully.
obviously you wont last long atacking 18m skillpoint chracters in battleships, but you will find plenty of characters at your own level to gank |

hmm, well heres what i think you should do.
find another n00b (no offence) and start a little pirate corp... its not as hard as it sounds...
thats how i started my pirate career, me and another guy knew nothing about pvp or pirating and had mostly done missions and mining, but we decided to make new chars and start a pirate corp and then we just went with trial and error :D
and YES it is fun ;)
but dont expect your victim to pay avery time, and prepare to get your ass kicked a few times

As a pirate you will: make very little money; lose ships; probably die; get smacked by victims. However, IMHO the fun outweighs the risk.
Have fun out there and don't take the game too seriously

i love it so much... expecially when i go one on a BB into a pirate camp and they all run ...
that happened couple days ago... went into a pirate system. 15pilots in local, they all docked and started smacktalking on local

get urself an alt for shopping in empire, as soon as you sec status will drop ya wont be able to enter high security rating systems( at -2.5 you cant enter 1.0, at -5.0 you cant enter 0.5 and above, and at -5.0 sentries no longer will protect you so any player can attack ya anywhere)
ps: this is a shopping alt
