Welcome to round three of our epic arc releases. Our theme this expansion: Pirates!
Things these arcs are/have:
- Pirate faction oriented. We created two arcs for this release, one for the Guristas pirate faction and another for the Angel Cartel pirate faction.
- Level 3, Quality 7.
- The full rewards are not in the arc yet, but they are being worked on right now.
- Interceptor focused. The missions are designed to be run in an interceptor or frigate-sized vessel. There are gate restrictions in many missions for only frigate-sized vessels.
- Nullsec missions. You will have to fly into 0.0 space in order to do these missions. Fit your ship accordingly.
- Multiple starting locations for each arc. See the starting locations below, but each arc has three starting agents: two empire agents and one pirate agent. This is to give players multiple avenues in starting the arc, in case they do not have high enough standings with the pirate faction.
What these arcs are not/do not:
- Mutually exclusive. Doing one arc does not prevent you from doing the others.
- Newbie friendly. You will get shot up.
[*] Empire-friendly. You MUST go into 0.0 to run these missions.
The arcs themselves are as follows:
Angel Cartel Title: Angel Sound First Agents/Location: Aton Hordner in Egbinger; Arajna Ashia in Sendaya; Ellar Stin in Konora
Guristas Title: Smash and Grab First Agents/Location: Atma Aulato in Obe; Arment Caute in Orvolle; Yada Vinjivas in Taisy
As always, questions/comments are most welcome.

Did Angel Sound, ten missions, all missions doable in a Retribution.
a faction module and a ship bpc as rewards.
No faction standings gain for Angels.
Some minor faction standings losses to other pirate factions and empire factions that you shoot at during the course of the arc.
Glitches, many mission briefings were not visible. missions where there was a choice, was unable to choose. Was still able to complete arc, as objectives were simple (destroy things - no pickup/retrieve).
Many missions acceptable/completable remotely - this will be useful in avoiding bubbles on stations and things.
Question: Why no faction standing gain for Angels?

Do we need a high Angel/Gurista standing to talk to the Agents because most ratters/mission runners have horrible pirate faction standings.

I was able to do the Angel one, and I have -6.8 to them. I used the Amarr Navy agent to begin the arc.

It will be there for the final version, we're just figuring out the amounts now.
We also plan to add faction standing rewards at relevant points in the other Epic Arcs too, for Dominion, since we've got the capability to do that now.
As for all of those glitches you encountered, if you can remember any specifics, please do list them. That would help us find and fix before Dominion releases. We're going to be doing a lot of playtesting this week ourselves, so any heads up on problems you can give us are greatly appreciated.

\o/
Recommend around 10-15% faction gain per arc, since, to take someone from -10 absolute to -5 absolute (which then allows them to do normal missions for the pirate faction) is a 25% shift. Doing 3 arcs of 10% for Blood/Gurista/Sansha, will get the player to the -5 absolute. 2 arcs of 15% for Angels/Serpentis does likewise.
Which would be cake \o/

Glitch with agent dialogue being a blank screen, seemed a common issue. Several people mentioned this. You can sometimes copy the left hand panel into the notepad to give you an idea of what it is you're supposed to be doing, but right hand panel did not allow this.
Right click and "read mission details" also either did nothing, or produced a blank screen.
Relogging sometimes fixed this.
All missions were like this, although when completing a mission, the completion dialogue was visible.

Nope, you don't. There are agents from the empire factions, with various agendas, that will also be able to get you started off on the arc. Just like you might expect in the real world, if you can get someone to vouch for you or hook you up, then your standings "on paper" shouldn't matter.
For each arc there are four "starting agents" - one out in 0.0, and three dotted around empire space at locations you would typically pass through on your way to the 0.0 regions (most but not all of which are lowsec systems).

on paper standings should matter to a degree. CCP really needs to work out a way to allow us to get standings back with any faction. Even just a few Lv 1 Q-40 agents to prove to the pirate factions we want to work for them.
Or even some double agent type missions

2 jumps away from this guy in obe gives me a mission. I'm at -9.5 or so with guristas so.
First mission sends me to h-pa in venal. Ya um. I expect there will be alot of dead newbs.

Makes sense. While a Caldari agent would never hand out a mission to an enemy of the State, pirates may be interested in hiring a high ranking hostile pilot and possible turn him on their side. I like it. If I had to grind lots of pirate standing I would lose a high amount of my precious empire faction standing (although I do agree that you should lose at least a small amount of empire faction (and maybe security/Concord) standing if you do the pirate arc while gaining some pirate standing) and I would never ever run these missions. But with the current system I would risk a trip to 0.0 when this goes live on TQ. Okay, I will fit an Interceptor, Assault Frig and HAC and try these new arcs on Sisi. Btw - if you want high sec mission runners like me to move to 0.0 please add some nice rewards for finishing the arcs. Of course it's only a Lvl3 Arc and as you said these missions are Interceptor focused so your wouldn't risk that much money. So I didn't expect to get a Nightmare BPC as reward - but at least a pirate frig bpc or a pirate module would be nice.

So I made it to h-pa. Had to kill a bunch of caldari and then a hauler. The popup convo I swear said not to kill the hauler... but u did need to.
Then i get a mission to talk to the agent that I'm already talking to.
So i reopen that agent and I get an option between 2. But the right side is blank. So i couldnt see what im really accepting. Apparently I need to retrieve Capital ship design - Dictator. fun! ------------------------ To make a megathron from scratch, you must first invent the eve universe. ------------------------ Life sucks and then you get podded. |

I had the same problem with the empty mission description window. I clicked inside the window and scrolled using the scrollwheel of my mouse and suddenly all the text appeared correctly. Next time I had that problem I did the same thing and again the problem was solved using the scroll wheel.

That would be awesome! A faction carrier with more HP, that could launch additional fighters or even use some fighter bombers. Make the bpc's available through pirate factions LP stores and demand 3-4 Mio LPs / BPC and finally the PvPers would change their mind on mission runners and show some more love.

Current mission I'm on is called Fuel Gauge for guristas. Very cool mission heh. You warp into this room with 3 fuel tanks or something and a whole bunch of ships u dont shoot. You shoot these fuel cans and as you shoot them. They start to spew gas. Then when u finish off the structure. It explodes and kills all those ships nearby.
Still no t2 ships iow t2 salvage or anything really all that interesting in faction mods or anything. :( ------------------------ To make a megathron from scratch, you must first invent the eve universe. ------------------------ Life sucks and then you get podded. |

which ones you need standings for? because, you should be able to do those datacentre missions, buying all the tags you need for 100isk each.
doing those will put your standings up quick, should get you enough to use the empire agents.

Thanx for the info. Didn't know they've also seeded the tags. Will try that.

I've trained diplomacy to 4. My standings are:
Guristas Pirates -2,78 (Diplomacy 4 raises your effective standing from -5,21) Angel Cartel -6,52 (Diplomacy 4 raises your effective standing from -9,66)
Agent description says you need at least -2.0 or better. Thats why it didn't work. And you've got -9,5 and it works?? Even with diplomacy 5 you wouldn't get above -2.0. So the only thing I can do is grind some standing for one of the empire factions. Will choose the caldari because I've only need a bit more standing to talk to the caldari agent and start the gurista arc.

Edited by: Peryner on 15/10/2009 03:11:20 you gus need to have some sort of agent finder in game imo...
I mean, It's the same with the epic mission arcs. How do you find them? easy, you aska friend, or you go online. This just shouldn't be the case. There should be a simple UI that allows for new players to see, within a number of jumps, what corperations they can do missions for, what epic arcs they can do missions for, or what type of missions they do.
Make it look like the contracts window.
Anoter thing that bugs me is I'm in factional warfare, and I dont' know what agent give out the faction missions. I mean I do have one or two agents I know of, but the rest are hiding somewhere with the rest of them. I wish I could open up a window and eve and just say, "tell me where my agent is!" without knowing thier name and jsut fly their.
The other issue in general is people assume you know the corp they are in, but there are so many minmatar type corporations, it's sick.
You guys need to make it east for new players to know where R&D agents are, where epic mission arcs are, and where their tutorial mission agents are, without using out of game aps such as eve agents. I mean... there is a good reason someone made eve-agents and why people use it.
Anyways, if you could put what is basically just eve-agents.com into the game as part of the UI, that would be lovely. You could make it a station service. : )

Simply put, after this come out, how will new players find these agents without reading it out of game?

sounds like what I suggested a while back
empire agents with "alternate" agendas
on second thought it sounds like what I suggested only a bit less epic, I want big ship blowy up stuff! not run around and courier stuff in an interceptor (and no interceptor combat missions don't count as epic )

New epics are all good but what about fixing the older epics? Some of the low sec paths rewards in the older epics are totally useless like the shield implant. The shield implant for example is worse in every way over the standard none epic shield implant. The Gallente 2km extra to drone range is considering next to useless and not epic, unlike the Caldari reward which is worth about x5 more.
Not to mention all the other problems. Most people who ran the level 4 epics have been very disappointed. Don't you think you should sort out the missions?
What about content for the PvE people who don't want to do PvP or risk PvP? This constantly trying to add PvE content with high risks for PvE is not what most PvE people want and is getting very irritating. I don't have a problem of seeing this PvE/PvP hybrid content but not at the expense of pure PvE content.
It's about time we have some decent empire based new PvE content that is not a high PvP risk.

I second that. Did the amarr and caldari epic arcs (pretty sure that Pottsey even bought my shield imp ^^) and they need more love. They aren't really epic. They are just stupid normal missions which are connected to each other. That's it.
On the part of the demand for a PvE high sec content.. sure, I'm all for that aswell. As long as it does provide less income than low sec. And high sec lvl 4 missions getting nerfed as they need to be.
