If this change goes through without rebalancing torps and torp ships, it will be absolute proof that CCP doesn't give two ****s about the balance of the game. It disgusts me to wonder wtf they are thinking. Are they sadists or ******ed monkeys? Either way, I am impressed by their awesome ability to destroy a great game from the inside out.

57% more dps on stuff big enough (and close enough, 800AC with barrage actually have a lot more reach than torps) and at a crippling CPU cost (between the launchers and the damage mods taking more CPU)... Considering RR also takes lots of CPU it will be hell to fit good RR with good damage, sacrifices on resist will likely have to be made. Torps rarely do full damage.
A raven with 2x BCU shooting another Raven does its full DPS...It will do less against other BS, though, because they have smaller sig radii. That same Raven loses almost 3/4 of its launcher DPS when shooting at a Hurricane moving at its full base speed.

edit: or maybe just more grid on the raven, the 'phoon seems to have plenty as is.

Good thing there are named varieties that have less CPU cost then 
The idea of near Raven damage output combined with armour tank and free mid slots just scares the crap out of me. Especially when you take into consideration that it is in a tier 1 hull. Might be skill intensive, but most of the big hulls are when you get right down to it .. torps are bloody nasty against BC/BS, combine with free mids for webs/tp and neuts .....
Either way, we'll see if it is over the top with the fifth slot. Doubt SiSi will give enough "real world" data to make a proper assessment so worst case scenario is 6-12 months of Phoon pwnage on TQ

its all very confusing and the lack of ccp response until probably 2-3 dyas before to limit player rage is the approach we get take it or leave it on this one
Stick with the nightmare or the bhaalgorn u know what youre getting their shield tanking laser dps or a nos-neuting, webbing laser dps choas machine Signature - CCP what this game needs is more variance in PVE aspects and a little bit less PVP focus, more content more varied level 1-4 missions more than just 10 per faction high sec low sec and 00 |

dudes.. read things in order. First the fleet phoon woudl have 5/5 no extra slot. We complained. THey changed to 4/4 with extra slot.. we complained.. they changed to 5/5 for BOTH types of typhoon and 8 low slots on the fleet issue one. THey simply did not removed the old posts.. simple.

Not really. A std current phoon you can fly in a fleet you can pack 3 1600 t2 plates 5 siege launchers plus heavy nos nuet and rr

I saw this change on the test server the other night, I was pretty pleased with the change. Now I have most all missile skills at level 5 and mimitar b.s. 5. I took this ship out on a test run and it was nice to have a little dps on the ship always felt it was lacking a little bit.
Shooting the t2 torps using normal ammo I was only hitting to 18km and I had to use two painters to cause a b.s. to take full damage with the torps. And hitting anything below a b.s. I was doing pitfull damage. My t1 large drones still would kill a b.s. faster than my torps however. I just don't get why people think torps are over-powered.
I used 5 autocannons and that seemed to kill npc b.s. faster at a grater range as well.

i am not sure TPs work on NPCs at all. maybe try player ships.

Are you frakking kidding me ? Look at minnie BS, we have the worst in the game by miles (pest) an active shield tanker that is virtually obsolete in the world of RR gangs and you begrudge us getting a partial buff to the only currently proficient (and yet still harder than any other to train for) BS we have.
