I love the bit in the OP that says 'In small gangs avoiding DPS is the best tank.'
In my experience of small gangs, concentrating a **** load of DPS on the correct targets in the correct order is the best 'tank' by far. A competent FC will make more of a difference than any ship fittings. Period. Dead men give no DPS.

If you officer fit your shield tanked Myrm, you can dock at station fights without cooldown. The station manager will recognize you as an officer and ignore aggresion.
