Hey.
I used to be able to play with HDR+AA active via nHancer or with just AA over the nVidia settings panel. For quite some time I haven't been able to get that to work anymore.
I run Vista 64, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 in SLI mode with191.07 (current) drivers.
Any ideas?

Bump - i wouldn't mind knowing this either since i'm considering upgrading my gfx card in the next week or so.
I heard a while back that Nhancer had stopped working to force these effects with the release of Apocrypha. Anyone found a workaround since then? I don't wanna pay out תתת just to be plagued by jaggies... :(

Bump. C'mon, we have 2009, why game engine cannot support AA anyways?

Get my profile here
As indicated in the forum profile post, I am using Windows 7 RC1 (still) and nHancer 2.5.7 and 191.07 nVidia Drivers.
The only other thing of note is that I do NOT use shadows in EVE. I'm not saying it will or won't work if you are/are not enabling shadows, mearly that I do not and AA is not an issue.
As I may of said before, CCP do not support AA, nor do they support the use of third party applications - so use at your own risk.

I have Win 7 64, GTX 260's in SLI, and the 191.07 drivers. It does not work for me either any more. I'm downloading the 195.39 beta drivers to see if it changes anything. Oh how I do like my AA.

Edited by: Visconti Liang on 03/11/2009 19:55:04 I can not get AA to work either. I have Windows 7 64 bit, 2 SLIed GTX 295s, and driver 191.07. I also downloaded your profile for nhancer. :( I don't see any option for those beta drivers on the nvidia site.

I have GTS250 and Windows 7, forcing AA through the controllpanel, I do have to turn HDR off ingame to get AA to work.

Edited by: totalamd5 on 05/11/2009 02:13:27 I confirm - it's working on WinXP, GTS250, AA is on in std. control panel, but only with EVE's HDR off. What's the problem, does anybody know? Is there any sense in HDR&bloom? I see only blinding gas clouds and nothing different. Why CCP doesn't accept AA? Is there any reasonable excuse?

Edited by: Seteshi on 06/11/2009 03:55:52 Edited by: Seteshi on 06/11/2009 03:54:28 Thought I would chime in here as well. I can't get AA to work under any circumstances anymore now that I have the 191.07 (8800 GTS) driver. Running xp with it, had to install it due to a format I did, and now with this new driver, AA won't cooperate at all. As a previous poster said, all of the former compatibility mode work arounds that used to function no longer do.

DX9 doesn't play nice with HDR and AA together, though both ATI and nVidia have built workarounds into their drivers now. Those workarounds were new or unavailable at the time Trinity was released. CCP at the time chose to go with HDR instead of AA for a better graphics experience. As to why they're not giving an option now, every new driver version of either company seems to break it again for the people who do manage to get it working. In addition, some who do get it working experience various glitches.
I haven't seen the code but implementing it properly may take as little as a week to as much as require a massive rewrite of the engine.

My (very) limited understanding is that the Trinity II engine uses deferred lighting, and that is the thing which makes native AA an issue.
Wiki
(Cut and Paste from above link)
"Another rather important disadvantage is that, due to separating the lighting stage from the geometric stage, hardware anti alias does not produce correct results any more: although the first pass used when rendering the basic properties (diffuse, normal etc.) can use anti alias, it's not until full lighting has been applied that anti alias is needed. One of the usual techniques to overcome this limitation is using edge detection on the final image and then applying blur over the edges"

AA+HDR works fine with pre-19X drivers. I'm running 186.18 and everything works. 260GTX
I've tried the latest drivers and nothing I do with the options in either nhancer or EVE gets the AA back. ...

I'm actually running on the latest drivers, Win7 x64 on a GTX260. After some meddeling the old settings work fine for me. Update your nhancer and run with the usual 0x0000045 compatiblity settings. I probably won't get home untill tomorow though, so I won't be able to post my profile untill then. _
