I agree, no more waiting for 20 minutes to form a fleet and no more picking up x's in intel chans. Also this new system will definatley get err 'newer' players into fleets even if they dont know people, Whole new meaning to the Butterfly effect, more people get in fleet, more people go for a roam in low sec and null and that's what we want....targets.. nice |

I like how this blog was written because it stepped away the idea of players useing it to grief Noobs or whoever so much.
you know because things like setting allowed people to joinable status whatever

HOLY BATMAN!
Nice work there, very happy player here.
A few questions and wishes:
How are militias handled by that systems? Are they similar with the alliance setting or do we have to filter everything with standings between corps/individuals?
Wishes:
Shiproles/sizes indications with icons.
Shipsize icon indication would be awesome for a FCs to assess what he got in fleet.
Having Icons display what kind of modules a player has fitted even more as it pretty much defines his role in the fleet.
So just as we have the jamming/webbing/TP/Nos-ing indicators from NPCs/players on us, these icons would be cool if attached to the ppl in fleet who have these modules fitted.
Anyway keep up the good work! ----- Garr Anders

Those are some awesome improvements, CCP! Now when those shiptypes/hull totals are implemented, the Fleet window will be a powerful tool for any FC!
There is one concern tho, security. How visible will those details be? Remember, that the FC of the actual ingame fleet, often is not the actual character in command, due to missing skill for example.
Also, with the introduction of loot logger in the Fleet History, shouldn't there also be a Kill/Loss logger in the Fleet History? The most difficult thing for an FC is to evaluate fleet performance after a fight, especially when this is a long fight that took place in multiple systems/regions and with several fleets and/or engagements. Tracking down the killmails where the fleet was involved and putting together a comprehensive overview, is something the killboards simply cannot do. Surely, logging all kills (which involved any action of a fleetmember) and fleet losses can be logged into this new Fleet History as well?
Now, Start posting those Devblogs about the Sov Changes, and keep up the good work CCP!

I haven't tested the new features yet, but while we're on the subject of the fleet UI, I have a suggestion.
The previous fleet UI had major issues with window placement when joining a fleet or entering/leaving a station. PLEASE ensure that the fleet window stays smoothly in place (wherever the player decides to put it) and doesn't move my other windows around! It was frustrating when I would join a fleet in station and undock to find that I couldn't see my overview...
Everything in the dev blog sounds absolutely fantastic, I just hope that the UI will behave a bit more in this iteration .

Will loot logging also encompass mining yields? I would like to see this, just in case we have hauler pilots with sticky fingers. It would also make it easy to tally the end of day total. ------------------------ Peace through superior firepower: a guiding principle for uncertain times. |

Sorry for not understanding "info in the hands of the enemy".
As FC seeing roles via certain modules icons and shipsize indicators on his own fleet is certainly a good idea or am I missing something.
And no, having spy in fleet is not a "game mechanic" problem but a "player" problem. That's something the player should resolve among themself, not something that should keep the game from improving usability. ----- Garr Anders

Great stuff. But I still wonder, why can't you show the actual bonuses being applied to the fleet in the green check mark tooltip? I've been in fleets seeing that yes, i'm receiving bonuses, but they could be to mining yield for all I know why I'm piloting an assault frig.

I'm just curious how you currently save the fleet members server/client side, map/stack/array? it seems you iterate through the entire memberlist once someone changes position/joins/leaves/whatever. which is pretty annoying(and inefficient) when trying to find yourself and move yourself to a SC position :P.
however i like this new shiny thing, especially the standing thing, its a pain in the ass to invite people who are not in your alliance nowadays.

Gosh, stop that emancipation political correct stuff please. Do you stand in front of the company "manpower" every day as well and tell them they shall rename to (Wo)manpower? OR the renaming of mankind into (wo)mankind.
Everybody knows that when he says 200+ man fleets it's women included. EVERYBODY KNOWS that. So stop that buggering around. The number is what counts. Not the friggin gender of whatever is used after it. I wouldn't give a rats' behind if he'd type 200+ woman fleets. because it's the 200 that count in the end.

From my reading the broadcast logs are now embedded into a bigger much less resizeable window?! Logistics pilots RELY on broadcasts to operate, and need ready, quick, immediate access on their screen the whole engagement. Screen real estate is already at a minimum with fleet chat, local, overview, drone window, watch list, and everything else that must be on the screen. Is there a way to pull off and have a small manageable, resizeable broadcast log window so it can remain open at all times without sacrificing a chunk of the screen?! This is a pretty MASSIVE nerf on logistic pilots if your going to require us to keep such a huge window open to see broadcasts? |

Can we get more logs like that for say everything? i mean one can never have enough logs.
and we will still get "the logs show nothing" responses too.

I love the new fleet finder interface from my testing so far, and from the additional functionality talked about in the blog is sounds like awesome win.
Serious Suggestion here: The first thing that comes to mind is Tags... I use them for just about every activity, from mining, to ratting, to Wormhole sites, and if they were made more robust I'm betting they would see use in Fleets as well. here are some key features for tags that would make them awesome.
- Hotkeys, assigning a key sequence to apply tags to a currently selected overview item - Tactical Officer (target calling) fleet role, ability to grant multiple folks other than the squad commanders to designate tags - Tagged items to top of overview, similar to broadcast items, a setting to cause newly tagged items to pop to the top of the overview (configurable time period, or till next filter) - Moar Hotkeys, assign keys to target everything with a given Tag.
Here is an example scenario. A large fleet incorporating E-war, Logistics, Tackle, DPS. Primary, secondary, tertiary target callers would all have the ability to designate tags. different tags could be used for different types of targets, "1" for primary, "2" for secondary, "A" for support primary, "H" for tackle, "E" for e-war target callers could split their responsibilities, one designating DPS targets, another perhaps designating important E-war and support targets. Logistics captains could also be made target callers so they could triage broadcasts for repair. fleet members could have binds to target the tag types relevant for their vessel, such as e-war ships having a hotkey to target all "E" tags.

Looks very promising.
Also please do consider the ability to see the fleet boss on your map.
I want players to be able to log on, open the fleet finder, see if their corp has a fleet up, join the fleet, open the map, see where the boss is, and head over that way without having to engage in a round of interrogations first...which gets tedious when this process has to happen over and over again for every single pilot that logs on. Is there a fleet? Who has it? Can I get an invite? Where are you going? Where are you now? etc etc.

I'd rather have an option so that all ships on grid with the target caller automatically lock whatever the target caller locks (there would ofc be an option to disable this so logistics pilots don't lock the enemy etc).

And why remove the open fleet functionality for those who want to use it the old way?
Quote: The Fleet Finder usurps the old "Open fleet" functionality where you would set your fleet to be "open" to your corporation or alliance and could then paste a link into chat for people to join your fleet. This feature has now been removed.
However, if you register your fleet in the Fleet Finder you can drag it (either from the advert list or from the 'my advert' tab) into the chat window to achieve the same functionality that you're used to with the old open fleets. This is one of the many things that we added to this feature after getting feedback from you, the players.
What if you don't want to register it and faff with all the new stuff and you just want to drop an old style fleet invite into your corp window?
Surely leaving something that worked nicely in isn't too much to ask. |

I like this idea. Being able to log kills a fleet achieves would be fantastic.
As for the proposed ship info feature for FC's I think providing full fits of each ship would be an insane amount of info for an FC to digest. Hull types is a fine start. I admit a given fit dictates the role, presence of a tackle or web vs DPS or tank is vital. But I think the players need to flag these properties, perhaps Ticking categories their fit matches "tackle" "close dps" "ewar" "Shield tank" "Buffer tank" etc. Or Perhaps a descriptive tagging system as part of the fitting system, similar to the new evemail. Covering security, players should be able to optionally disclose this (on off). You dont want every fleet you join to know your fits all the time, especially when hauling in an open fleet eg.
But this is all down the line.
For now, its vastly improved on Sisi anyway.

No seriously, a LOOT logging? FFS? Why are you dumping down this game? If I wanna steal that office item then I should be able to do it without getting caught by some stupid logger!
And a fleet finder? Like thats going to be used other than spy tool.. lol!
as mercinary all the loot we collect gets contracted to a person to sell in empire which we use as bonus pay off on contracts . It is good to know who picked it up so we know who has that faction mod.
This is a really good idea

Simply Awesome!!!!!
But... (yeh you knew it would come)
- The broadcast buttons should be a seperate window, or should be able to be positioned independently. A pilot, who is not in a logistics or no FC, just needs his personal button(s) (need shield, armor) and no window that clutters his screen up.
- broadcasted targets should be lockable via Ctrl + LMB (like in the watchlist)
- We need the ability to fade the older broadcasts out or at least manually purge the broadcast history after the fight.
- Give the FC the ability to see the ships/shiptypes in his fleet

Show us some fleet bonuses! Would be interesting to see what bounces each fleet gets at the highest level - i.e. fleet commander if there is one, or squad commander if that is all that exists. Nothing like seeing that 15% agility bonus when your FC has a skirmish warfare mindlink jacked in.
