Morbor set up some pyramid scam where you invested money with him and he sent you double back, of course the extra money he sent you was someone elses money who had also signed up for the scam.
EVE-I did an article on it which pretty much endorsed the scam (though they didn't realise it was a scam) and so Morbor got a very large number of people to 'invest'. He ended up getting sick for a few days and by that time the investor community was in a panic as they had'nt heard from him and the scam collapsed early.
Reportedly he made billions of isk, one estimate was as high as 15 billion.

He would buy the battleship bpo, and the investors could have as many bpc's as they liked. He's written it down, let me search for a link...

Edit, I forgot to mention that I read this story on the SomethingAwful forums and this made me sign up for EVE.
WOW, what a story. I was mezmerized from the beggining to the end. Loved the ending where it shows that ppl are just ppl. It's very hard to put rl feelings away even while playing a game.
Fantastic scam tho

Not an ISK scam but political scam: Hellgremlin, CEO of the Endless, the largest corp in beta, forging a war with TTI in beta.

Moo selling TPAR to Techell corp for over billion using the trade channel. They couldn't hang on to it and it made them kos to everybody. It was right after the miner2 4 mil the piece rip deals they were performing and it made them the most hatted busniss corp in EVE. I never bought and sold anything in Algogille after it. Even sold BS in Algogille under their prices to **** em up.

TTI Tritanium scam wasn't a scam.
Roark set up a buy order for 1 trit for 1 billion isk, instead of 1 billion trit for 1 isk each.
He made a mistake and James something ? was quick to sell. Not a scam.
oh yeah thats how it went my bag that was still some funny shat though ------------------------------------------------ A Plague is comming.... |

Quote: "ENOUGH OF THIS DAMNED GAME!!" I shouted, my booming voice causing a freshly awoken dog to begin howling at the day. I jogged to my computer and started Eve Online. I flew my starter ship out to the closest asteroid field and struck up a conversation with a player named Frosttt.
Me: Hi. What would you say if I were to offer you 300 million isk?
Frosttt: id say it was pretty kool lol
I wired the credits to him and logged off.
I never logged back in again.
Man, that story was something else... Amazing that they could pull it off. Man, I ain't gonna be able to trust people much online after reading this. Our home
