No-one hurt I hope? ______________________________________________
Never argue with idiots. They will just drag it down to their level, and then beat you through experience. |

With one notable exception we don't live under or on-top of our volcanos.
So no. Happens every few years, the most danger is usually to the idiots in the Super-SUVs (Icelanders make Hummers look like baby toys when they modify SUVs) who drive up to the lava flood to watch and get stuck and have to run away while their car gets consumed by the lava flow.

er.. yeah it would be great having a volcano erupt in your back garden best thing about the UK is we don't have mad weather or killer insects.
wind and rain I can put up with on a nite out, being covered in molten rock while stumbling to the next pub might be a little more irritating
> With the lights out it's less dangerous. |

People used to, but then natural selection kicked in.

*******s to that! It's prolly just me being a gutless b'stard, but h00ge lava flows and forces of nature like that scare the living hell outta me, not matter how spectacular they look.
I'm happy to check the Discovery channel for my wonder of nature thank you very much.

The notable exception where they stopped the lava flow.
Can't find a picture of the car that got stuck in the lavaflow a few years back, but it was probably something like this.

Edited by: Vegeta on 04/11/2004 22:06:37 Once when my dad was young the phone rang in the middle of the night, he woke up and a man told him to look outside his window, then give the phone to his father (my grandpa).
What he saw when he looked outside the window was a volcano erupting about 500m away from his house, his father was a fire fighter and was being called out for duty.
It's amazing how much they actually managed to save back in 1973. Only one person died as a result of the eruption and the whole population was transported to the mainland save for the fire fighters and a few other people. The fire fighters worked day and night and I was told that the person who managed to be out there for the longest did six days straight without sleep.
Today half of my family still lives in Vestmannaeyjar, the islands are beautiful and there is a lot for tourists to see (Keiko (Free Willy) used to be held there). I've gone there for the past two summers to work and it's pretty cool, you can still see smoke coming from the top of the mountain :)
2005.04.25 16:40:42 combat Your 1400mm Howitzer Artillery II perfectly strikes LawrenceNewton [WARAG], wrecking for 2706.9 damage.
