Hi guys, as the title says can I get some suggestions on how to go about fitting an Iteron for high sec hauling. This is for both avoiding potential ganks and for speed.
I will be using GSC and cargo space is not a concern for the fits.
Just want to know where I should start investing skill points. thanks

Big buffer all round and a few warp core stabs.

Something like this, but even then you don't have a huge buffer and its best not to bring much that is expensive.
[Iteron Mark IV, Hauler] Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Warp Core Stabilizer I
Medium Shield Extender II Medium Shield Extender II Medium Shield Extender II Magnetic Scattering Amplifier II
Small Tractor Beam I
Medium Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I

I wouldn't recommend this fit. If you are purely highsec hauling, there is no need to fit warp core stabs, unless you are at war with another corp. The only thing you have to worry about is suicide gankers, most of which probably won't waste a point on you, because if you aren't dead in a few hits, CONCORD will show up.
If cargo is not an issue, I'd look at i-stab/nano's for better speed/alignment time so you can warp out faster from a gate. Also take into account that the buffer on this setup is going to inflate your sig radius through the roof, making you easier to target and hit.
Tractor beam? I'm hoping this is just a default setup, as hauling through highsec, you are probably never going to come across a can or wreck that you will be able to tractor. Better off fitting a salvager (to salvage the occasional wrecks on gates from suicide/empire wars) or just leave it empty.
Cargo hold optimization rigs are still probably your best bet, unless you are in an area that gankers routinely visit, then either shield resist/extender rigs would be appropriate, or again, rigs that decrease the amount of time that it takes you to align and warp out (speed rigs not being one of those, as the faster your ships max speed, the longer it takes to warp out).

For high-sec suicide ganking of t1 haulers, here are some helpful numbers. I think these are fairly accurate and others can come along and correct if they're off by much.
<100 mil in cargo = pretty safe 100 mil - 250mil = a little risky >250mil = very risky
Suicide gankers have to justfiy the cost of their ship (not too high with current insurance mechanics), the fact that only 50% cargo has a chance of dropping, and probably most important, the sec-status hit they will receive from shooting you. So to be really worth their time you need to have at least 250mil in cargo I would say.

Edited by: thdeputy on 10/11/2009 10:41:31 Those are some interesting estimates, but tbh if I am going to be hauling <100 mill, I might as well simply do station trading and let my profits eaten away by a % instead.
Also, looking at another thread, transport ships are looking interesting and seeing as how I am only a few days from being able to fly one, I might get one of those instead. Would they make high sec hauling fool proof? also what kind of support skills I need to fly those, thanks

afk ?
mebe summat like
[New Setup 1] Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II Large F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction Large F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction Large F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction Salvager II Medium Core Defence Field Extender I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
that takes some sinking. but also takes some fitting skills. i would never say it's 100% safe to afk tho if your not afk hauling then you go for a
[prorator] Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II Medium Cargohold Optimization I Medium Cargohold Optimization I
mid slots are what ever you want as its unimportant. you hold 10k . you warp cloaked. your uncatchable . fit a large shield extender for those moments when you may get distracted mebe ???.
t1 haulers are prime targets for suiciders. none of them are safe to afk with regardless of the fit.
