Well -- I agree this is a fantastic idea, but that CSM link says nothing about a sort function for Meta Level. It just says they will implement a Meta Column in the item info. Or am I wrong? Plus Dominion still doesn't have this implemented, although the former idea was/is.

The idea is already going to be implemented, in either the next patch or the next expansion. It has been reviewed by the CSM and i quote the PDF of a CSM meeting: "CCP agrees it is trivial and that it will get done."

I'd like to add one clarification here, the current proposal seems to be looking at adding a meta tab to the Detail and List views. Specifically, what I am requesting is the addition of a 'Sort by Meta' option to the right click menu of the Icon View.
Note: the right click menu for the Icon View does not resemble the right click menu for the List and Detail views. I.e. clicking on a blank space in the hangar (anywhere not on a module itself) produces a context menu not available in the other views. (appologies if I've overcomplicated this)
A very small distinction, but nevertheless one that I hope might be brought to the attention of the dev team while they are engaged in implementing this feature.
If ccp adds a column for meta lvls to the list/detail view- then it accomplishes pretty much want you want. You can go to list view- and sort by columns. Items can be moved in this view just like they can in icon view.
Its not exactly the same as what you want- but in the end it accomplishes the same thing.
Edit to say- the only difference i can see is that in icon view you can click blank area and sort by (whatever). and in the detail/list view you have to click the top header to sort by that column

Definately agree and would go one step further. The functionality of the items hangar is getting noticably left behind as the rest of the interface develops. Items should at least have Corp hanger style tabs / folders to enable better organisation of what can quickly become a myriad of stuff.

I'm sure there are CSM5 applicants that support this other than me, but it was okay'd already by CCP and so this maybe why its not listed in their Agendas.
