Good ships of the Gallente lineup for pirating:
- Vexor (tied for best cruiser in the T1 world; probably better then Rupture but more skill intensive since optimal drone mix requires Ogre IIs)
- Myrmidon (with shieldfit is quite a solid ship, alternatively rep fit sort of works)
- Ishtar (nano fit)
- Dominix (one of the remaining solo BS worth a damn)
- Megathron (not as good as it once was, but deserves at least a honourable mention)
Unfortunately, you will have to get very good drone skills. Blaster-oriented ships are generally crap.
People suggesting the Ishkur are idiots, btw, you can get a Myrmidon for that pricetag. Ishkur is just awesome for frig killing. For a 33M pricetag... it's not a effective pirate ship.
Also Taranis is not all that impressive. If you want a really really cost-effective ship, Vexor is just awesome.

Ishkur is an excellent ship but it's true that it's quite costly. Neither a Myrmidon or a Vexor has its speed and agility and as such your chances of making it through 0.0 camps will considerably improve with an ishkur and that can justify its pricetag.
It's just ignorant to dismiss it like that.

umm I have been flying gallente for 5 years and I can outdamage 2yr players in my thorax shooting a bs while there in a bs shooting the bs. Once you get the skills and fittings gallente does insane damage.
I hate vexors, I hate the myrm, I hate the domi, and I only like the thoraxes, brutix, mega, hyp, and hacs, and assault ships is what I fly they are good ships the thorax especially and dont use rails ever RAILGUNS are just bad I have never had any use for them not one bit.

All gallente ships are fantastic, I don't see why there is all this whining.
If you can't catch a ship overheat ur mwd.. and fight or flight.
If you can't track using your guns, you're doing something wrong when piloting your ship, the general.. MWD and bump works wonders.
If you are lowest dps, it's 99% down to the fact that on 6 million skill points gallente ships wont do much damage.. and if you're in a fleet of 10... and they are amarr... or matar.. they will outrange you.
Stick to the gallente ships and find out what they are really made from, they are godly in the hands of an experienced player.

I think we found your problem. Megathron + 6 million SP = Very dead BS.
Stop flying ships you don't have the SP to properly fly. Stick to frigs and cruisers for now. Focus on them and you'll not only perform better, you'll not be a massive target. The likely reason you're always the first one to die is either they see your age, and the fact that you're in a BS and do the math, or they simply do a little damage and see your shields/armor dropping like a rock and focus on you.
But yeah, in short, stay in smaller ships until you get your support skills a LOT higher.

Yea, at 6 million SP you can NOT use a Megathron effectively. You can't even use it poorly.

Its not about races or even skills, its just selecting the right ship for the job and know its capabilities.
Rifter is easily the best t1 pvp frig, but it would die to any tech 1 cruiser that is fit to deal with frigs (except maybe a caracal because it is utterly terrible). If you truly are pirating for profit and not just blob ganking noobs, your goal will be to abuse your ship size to kill smaller ships. Like flying a cheap cruiser hoping to kill T2 frigs.

All Gallente should have T2 for blasters. (if you don't have, get asap) Null ammo is your best friend most of the time. If you're going for highest possible damage, make sure you engage in YOUR optimal. Otherwise, you're already at a huge disadvantage.
Your value is in face melting. Your weakness is people know you have a weaker tank than the others for a close range ship, generally, and killing you reduces incoming dps faster than primarying other race types. Don't be afraid to go into structure. Gallente ships have more hull HP than the rest. Use damage controls.
Rule of thumb for face melting. You either kill or die. Once engaged, there's rarely any way to escape, so do what Gallente were designed to do and kill before being killed. Pick your fights carefully.
Incursus > Make sure you're on top of your target before he gets a lock, MWD + AB + Scram works wonders. (MWD to close range, bump, AB for fast orbit) If you can't achieve that scenario, don't engage. Also, don't engage serious droneboats or heavy neuters such as vexor, ishtar, domi or amarr recons.
Vexor > drones are hungry, feed them. Pick range carefully, close orbit for bigger turret ships, bit of distance for short range ships. If you're worried about drones, fit some light guns in the highs. Neuts work well too.
Thorax > stick a 1600 plate on it and light neutrons, get close and face melt. (kill drones of larger ships first, light guns are great for that.)
Brutix > Best w/ shield buffer tank and gank neutron fit w/ 3 mag stabs. Can do mediocre dual rep armor setup, but again, you'll want very solid skills or you're just gonna splode.
Myrm > requires good skills to be any good at anything.

The hyperion can be good for low-sec gate gun active tanking.
The megathron can be a beast.
The kronos is amazingly overpowered (compared to the other marauders).
The sin can appear from out of nowhere and give you one bad day.
The dominix is the second best remote repping battleship (in my opinion).
The phobos is adequite. It can fit 2-3 sensor boosters and still have a moderate tank.
In my opinion, Gallente aren't as useful as Amarr or Caldari, but they're definitely more capable than Minmatar (post nano). You can argue that for days if you want, of course, but that's my take in this day in age.

- Post your Gallente char name so we can check your KMs
- Post your fits
Also, if you're flying around in something like a Brutix then you will get primaried first because they do such insane dps and have a relatively small tank in comparison to other ships in class.

I fixed your list. Jag is so much better than the wolf with the right fitting. Using an implant and the right mod combo, you can fit two medium shield extenders and get 4k shields with rigs.
