well 30km is a very small misalignment, coming from lets say 10au..
The warp alignment buffers which locks onto your target at 0 are horribly disturbed by the presence of the warp bubble over there and cause you to misalign by 0.000000001%. This will result in your 30km offset. Don't be fooled though, it will also bring you cookies. And we all love cookies in the end

Originally by: JeanMichel Bizarre I understand that but not what is it in a bubble that makes the gate push you beyond it, way over to 30kms.
Think of a bubble as a magnet for warp drives. If you are roughly aligned with the bubble when you start warp, you'll end your warp just inside the bubble. The bubble is a weapon designed to do exactly this.
This is why putting small bubbles at X km away from or in front of a gate in alignment with another in system gate (or celestial object) is popular for catching people trying to run rapidly through the system. The way to avoid this (for small and most medium bubbles) is to warp to a celestial that is at different angle to the end point gate than the gate you start off at.
The best technique is to have on and off grid safe spots around the gates (as per Atropos) so you can nosy at what is going on and see if you have an angle you can wap to the gate from without being interdicted.

Wait, what?
You give such bad advice and claim to be playing actively?... Anyone who travels in 0.0 _knows_ that you never, ever, warp to a gate from gates nor stations nor planets. It might be that Syndicate has rather soft pirates compared to Curse and such, even so the only way to travel is by using BM's 200+ from each gate on the route.
Now stop spending so much time doing CCP stuff, and get back to learning the basics of EVE.

Edited by: David Grogan on 17/11/2009 11:53:09 Lesson 1 - warping to gates with warp bubbles and how to avoid dying
Bookmarks - Bookmarks & Bookmarks
if u regularly travel a pipe thats camped often get your ass in a covert ops frig and make warp to bookmarks above or below the gates u travel along. make the bookmark right at the edge of the grid where the gate is and warp to your bookmarks and not the gates directly if there is people in local
once u get to your bookmark above the gate u wish to jump through and its clear u warp to the gate and jump.
lesson 2 - warping to gates with warp bubbles and how to avoid dying
scout - scout - scout
if your in a slow mover (bc or above) use a low sp scout (preferably less than 900,000 sp in a t1 frig cos it wont matter if it gets podded)
lesson 3 - warping to gates with warp bubbles and how to avoid dying
intel - intel - intel
if you regularly use a region in 0.0 make sure u have your intel channel open and ask other if they know if the pipe is camped.
lesson 4 - warping to gates with warp bubbles and how to avoid dying
safe spots - safe spots - safe spots
yes make sure u have at least 1 safe spot in each system along the pipe SIG: if my message has spelling errors its cos i fail at typing properly :P |

Bad advice? Bouncing from the alternate gate, or station as I suggested would give you a lower chance of being sucked into the most likely position that a bubble would be placed in. If you read my initial response you'll see that I said "however since both are low ... with large bubbles it's easy to cover all the angles."
I then go on to tell the OP that I make use of bookmarks "to avoid exactly these situations, coming in from angles that no normal travel would come from". That's pretty sound advice in my opinion.
Maybe I'm more gung ho than you because I'm in Interceptors all the time, but that doesn't invalidate what I said and I'll stand by it all the way.

/signed. this is good advice no matter what anyone says. The best way to get round a sling bubble is to come from an angle thats not an obvious route, such as another gate or the station. Sometimes planets are the only way to get round it. Needs must, and if you need to GTFO then you will try anything to get away.

Unless said celestial is within scan range of course, in which case, a quick scan can save you a lot of warping around.

That's what makes the Reblier gate so good to camp; it's outside of the scan range of all celestials. Anyone who hasn't got a scan point prepared or a relay/bounce bookmark is out of luck.

It's not about the gate blowing you away. It's about the bubble sucking you.

riighht... If you did this ALL the time as you suggest it would take you so hideously slow to get to your destination a Freighter could catch you up o_O.
In fact, what you should say about 0.0 which everyone DOES know is that you NEVER say NEVER! :p

Kinda funneh considering the ccpgates. The Enslaver or T20 or heuheuheu newbchar with gm spawned officer mods.
If ccp didnt play the game... how do these things happen?

This is where a cap unstable tank comes handy, you can deplete your cap and do short warps. But it can take a while to get in scan range that way... If you don't have a way to deplete cap with modules you can still play tricks to get you below optimal recharge, like onlining something then using mwd/disruptor in case e.g. of an interceptor (just orbit and scram a jetcan if you are at a safe). -- 081014 : emoragequit, char transfered to a friend, 090317 : back to original owner blog |

If you are trying to look smart, or elite, you aren't doing a very good job.
What are you going to do on your first visit to a system eh? Or perhaps on your 10th visit if you have never had an opportunity to make bookmarks due to a heavy enemy presence (not everyone flies a cloaker you know).
If you rely solely on having premade perches everywhere you go, and refuse to learn how to read a system to find obtuse angles to come at the gate from, you are likely to go nowhere fast anywhere but outside your own little backyard.
Perhaps you should read more, and type less.

They aren't allowed to answer that. ---------- There is always a choice. The choice might not be easy, nor simple, nor the options be what you desire - but, nevertheless, the choice is there to be made. |

Easier to just pick a distant celestial and warp cancel a coupla times to cap out

Another strategy for this if you DONT have a pre-placed BM, is create a safe first (because you don't want to be sitting in a warpable location while doing this) get to the safe, kill your speed, and then turn on mwd or somethign else to drain cap, and initiate and kill your warp repeatedly until you see the message about insufficient cap to reach the destination. This way you will drop out of warp hopefully close enough to the gate to scan the gate down, but not get pulled in by a warp bubble. -------------- ~Vice Admiral, Executive Officer Sturmgrenadier, Inc. I always bookmark gates like that whenever I get the chance.
Failing all else, make a bookmark just before hitting the gate. At least you'll have a scanspot for the next time you pass that way...
