Quick question; Was watching one of the fanfest video's a Q&A with dev's and of course the CEO. Fantastic CCP do this and also upload them to youtube xD One of the questions asked was how many of the staff present play EvE all but one (poor guy doesnt have the time) play EvE regularly. This got me wondering do they ever leave Jove space to play, do they use alts to play.
Basically what do you think CCP staff do in EvE apart from testing? Mine? Yarr? etc
Personally I think they are keeping all the male Rorquals hidden deep in Jove space so that the Orca population doesnt mass assimilate all our ships into other Orca's. God bless you boys and your tireless work...I need coffee
Have a great day/night everyone xD |

I seem to remember some of them saying that they mine a lot, some of them can be found in low sec blowing us up. Pretty much playing the game the way we do.

Here's an example of a CCP employee playing EVE and living in 0.0 http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1215360&page=1#16
They must use alts because their employment must not be known by other players. _____________________

On a side note I think it is not only desirable but essential that CCP employees play the game, especially those involved in development.

Yes there are a loads of devs in game and you will never know they are there.
For example Seleene that was head of Mercenary Coalition became a dev (CCP Abathur) three years ago but it wasn't that long ago he stepped down.

Given the reaction to the ancient Agro Display bug that was posted by a cpp dev the other day, they dont play and its all lies ;) lol.
(oldest bug in the game that anyone who has spent longer than 4 seconds in lowsec will have ahd happen to them).

They lose their char if people find our they are a dev. I would assume devs try to be in corps together so they don't have to watch what they say all the time, or simply solo.

I can tell you this with 100% certainty.
Many devs and GMs that play EvE walk among you incognito. You may have even spoken to a few of them over vent/teamspeak and never knew. __________________________________ Want to help fix the CSM process? Show your support here. |

The characters remain as normal until they are found out to belong to a dev at which stage they will be terminated.

I heard they have type of 'witness protection program' where their characters can get a name change, new face, and instant relocation and they are not allowed to interact with previous contacts again.

Yes, a post dated 2007, which is specifically 2007 years from the purported birth of jesus, since the Gregorian calendar epoch is the birth of jesus is older than Jesus.

I'm sure they get to play however they want. So long as
A. They don't go bragging to everybody in-game that they are a dev/GM (even if they did, the flak and paparazzi wouldn't be woth it for a dev trying to just have fun) B. They don't use their ub3r dev powars to influence the game to their advantage.

At one point I thought all CCP employees were required to play EVE some minimum amount of time per week.
I expect most CCP employees play alot of computer games, including EVE. Both for "industry research" and, well, people attracted to work for a gaming software company probably actually enjoy computer gaming.

I think I ran into a CCP employee in game yesterday...I had an item sell on the market and just out of curiousity I looked up the characters info. He was a 6yr 6mnth 3day old character (beginning of the game in 03?) that had NO employer history, even though he was the member of some corp (forget the name). His employer history was BLANK, not even a rookie corp was listed. So I click on his corps info, and under the "alliance" tab, there was NO starting date for the corp. I tried convoing him just to chat, he ignored it. So I asked about him in local... A little while later, I look up his info again, and all of sudden he is a brand new 1 hour old character in a rookie corp. So now I have a market transaction log from a character that (according to current in game info) didn't exist at the time of the transaction. So, just based on this...this guy can mod his character's info all he wants, but he still has to buy modules on the market like everyone else? Either that or he was a trader who was trying to figure out who had been undercutting him all afternoon...I don't know, just hypothesizing... |
