To me, I think the old core of devs/lead designers, what's left of them anyway, they treat their job as a hobby.
They wake up, drive to CCP, say hi to the few people they tolerate and sit on their working space/office, fire up the puter and begin surfing mindlessly the web, sipping coffee or beer or any other liquid as they munch down whatever edible food is nearby. After the heating up period, they actually begin working , wich is like 3 hours tops, then begins the cooldown, mixed with regular web surfing, the joke of the day, facebook/myspace bored browsing, some cool sites and at the end of the shift, saying goodbye to the few people they tolerate.
Thats how I see them, dunno why ---

Actually meant for actual CCP members to reply to this, but I guess that was a long shot. So let's see where this will go as a conjecture thread unless they actually do decide to post something.

Hobbies, eh?
I play EVE a bit, of course. Need to keep tabs on how things are to stay ahead of the curve.
Recently re-installed Alpha Centauri and have been toying with that plus some random MMORPGs. Nothing wrong with swinging a sword as long as you keep making a profit in EVE.
But for "proper" hobbies I used to paint table-top gaming models and I am trying to get back into that. Very relaxing after a workday.
There is also the never ending quest to get into shape. Trying to swim regularly and go to the gym with variable rate of success.
Otherwise I just work. Suppose I am fairly boring all in all. -------------------------------- Senior GM Spiral EVE Online Customer Support Team |

All I know about CCP employees is that they shoot each other with toy-guns into their faces, which is why they never get a job done right at first. So I guess that if they do anything after "work" is to have a real job. --

I do a lot of gaming, mostly MMOs and FPSs. And RTSes if they're the type where you only have one hero instead of an army, and you can level up and buy him items (not naming any names...)
Also, I love indie games. I think they're recapturing a lot of the gameplay elements that have been slowly bred out of gaming in the last 15 years :)

This is what I remember about Elite as well. I usually would give up and play Autoduel or Telengard instead on my C64.

What was the problem with docking?? You only had to rotate your ship around its longitudinal axis and accelerate. And it did not take long before you could buy yourself a landing computer. Seriously, the first weeks of EVE are more difficult than the docking manoeuvre of Elite. Try then to switch ships in EVE. It always takes me 30 seconds and for no reason. I have to stop thinking about Elite or else I only see how much EVE sucks in comparison to it! --

What he means is, biking towards zombies so he can shoot them, and taking photos of zombies after he's shot them.

Edited by: Forranz on 28/11/2009 12:47:15 Wing commander (series) was a great game, 1, 2, secret ops, 3, (didnt play 4)..
Privateer was fun because of the different 'views' of the ships and the tiny windows that made it impossible to see.
Privateer 2 was a great game and I showed it to a friend who was shocked to see live actors in an older game.
Total Annihilation 1 was superb, 2 was rubbish albeit fun, Supreme Commander is a blast. Freelancer would've been a better game if Chris Roberts would've stayed with it (I think he left midway through?)
