I'm not sure if you can buy a character on there, and rename it, but some of those folks have to realize that trying to sale a character with a really stupid name is going to affect the sale value of it.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to buy one or two of those characters due to the SP, and skills trained, but I don't want to run around New Eden with a horrible name. Also, I'm male, like the other 90-95% of Eve, so I'd prefer to play a male character. Too many guys trying to sale female characters in there.
Anyways, my 2 cents, and micro rant for the day.

I don't know.
Here's how it kind of played out. I was looking in the Character Bazaar. Noticed some of the names of the characters, said to myself "Hmmm, I'll make a post about it."
Obviously posted, wasn't mad when I hit the new topic button, but you know how it goes, got myself all worked up when I started typing. Hit the Post Reply button....
Nope, I'm not mad now if that's what you're asking.

What a horrible name for someone who isn't mad. I wouldn't want to run around New Eden named like that...

Just look at that mug. Is that the face of someone who's mad? I think not!
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

Heh... True, I'm not trying to sale this character though, he'll actually go to the clone vats eventually.
On a side not, I'm getting the impression that there aren't a lot of people that read Lovecraft anymore.

When I was still flesh peddlin, I built characters to maximize revenue. Which meant good solid RP names etc.

Your point is?
You don't like the names of some characters for sale? Don't don't buy them, what is the point in telling us?
I don't like it when I have cold feet for example. But who cares? And why should anyone care?
And no, renaming of characters is not working. |

yes this is general discussion. feel free to discuss what you like. These dousche bags aren't the forums overlords.
I often believe many players have dumb names. Like character names with numbers after them. like michael21 or jerel99. To me that's just lame. u lose |

Thanks man.
That's what I was shooting towards with the original post. Folks trying to sale characters with numbers in the names, and simply stupid sounding names. Some border on being offensive even. The ones that take the cake are where they've turned an entire sentence into a character name.
If it's a name you can pronounce, then I'm cool with it, even if it's an entirely made up word.

Most of the men I know who play EvE dont really care at all about playing female charatcer. It bothers a few of the boys, though.

Actually, the main reason I don't want a female character is because I don't want someone to make the mistake that they're talking to a woman, and I've just never felt the urge to pretend I'm a female online before, so why start now?

Just assume every female character you see has a male controlling it, you'll be right most of the time.

Yes, how dare someone want to roleplay a character they identify with? All those men using scantily clad female avatars are the socially adjusted ones. _________

Remember folks: this is the Internet! Where all the men are men, all the women are men, and all the 12 year old children are undercover FBI investigators! ---------- There is always a choice. The choice might not be easy, nor simple, nor the options be what you desire - but, nevertheless, the choice is there to be made. |

It's all about the numbers at the start of the name. That's what all the cool kids do.

Some of the most expensive characters I've ever constructed over time and sold are female. Indeed, most people I know in EVE have one or more female characters, regardless of their own gender. What is perhaps more frightening (for you, I mean) is that many male players I know even have a female character in use as their main character.
To be honest, if you don't like the goods then DON'T buy the merchandise. If you think the gender matters, that is wholly your concern, not ours. That is all there is to it.

I have to see my pilot's face all of the time while I'm playing and when I login. Gender has no impact on gameplay whatsoever. If I'm going to be staring at a face for a few hours, I'd prefer a woman. Some prefer to look deeply into a male's eyes. I don't hold that against you.
