Same ship, same asteroid belt, same detail options options.
Test rig: E6500 4gb ram Ati 6850 Win7 x64
On TQ, 50-60 fps. On Sisi, 30 fps.
Explanation: On TQ framerate drops with the amount of missiles on screen, trails, smoke and shock-wave effects on hits, it is frustrating but manageable to play.
On SiSi, warping to a belt, targeting 1 roid, and shooting 1 (only one, yes) missile, framerate instantly drops from smooth 60 to 30, 10-15 seconds after the missile hits the roid and effects go away, framerate goes back to 60 fps. Same thing with multiple missiles on screen, always drops directly to 30fps. One or dozen missiles, same fps hit. Disabled GPU particles and its back to working 60 fps.
Something is really broken since missiles got a new effect to be visible from medium-far distance. As it is, its unplayable on sisi.
Some strange thing i noticed, on TQ (currently), in missile fight, cpu/gpu usage is both high, around 80-90%. On Sisi with latest issues, fps is 30, but i got overall lower cpu/gpu usage, around 60% for both. Using interval default setting.
Can a anyone confirm this?
@CCP is this a known issue ( yes i reported it ) and is it gonna go live to TQ since a few last SiSi patches did not address this issue. |

@Ribikoka
Tnx for confirmation, vastly superior CPU takes that possible issue from the list. So ATI or CCP optimization is at fault. We only need someone with a nVidia to confirm or deny the issue. |

Maybe but this drastically FPS drop, i think unacceptable of few missiles. And i have a relative good computer. What happen when someone want to play with a worse machine or laptop ? |

no Problem here.
Disable VSync to see real FPS(Drop)? (your card can (for example) render 76 FPS, 75 are shown on a 75 Hz Display. If the missile stuff drop the FPS to like.. 70 FPS (real), the card drops below the 75 VSync-Target and have to half it -> 38 FPS) |

Tested v-sync, its not it. With interval imd. i get around 130 fps, Gpu particles on and drops to 30-35. Interval def. 60 fps drops to 30-35.
So if other ati card works without issues, and TQ doesn't have this problem.... drivers maybe? I am running 12.4 currently. |

Without V-Sync my 109FPS dropped to 38FPS, on the TQ everything is fine. |

I did notice an issue pre-patch (been having it for months), where my FPS would drop in the manner you describe while in station, then struggle for a minute or two and resume normal behaviour There should be a rather awesome pic here |

I dont think so. Its a program code fail. (No matter Sisi or TQ) Check your FPS meter how changing when you turning camera angle to sun direction or rat starting to move in a belt.
My FPS drop instantly from 125 to 95 FPS before when i didn't any missile shot with minimal setting without shadow and when my all setting is low. With No - Use lod setting, no - sun occluded by objects setting, without trails. Over 25 percent performance decreasing because i turned the camera to the sun ??? Really ? From one light ? 40% performance decreasing in anomaly or mission where have a space dust texture ?? This is normal ? Maybe would be, if i didnt had appropriated PC, but i have. |

BUG REPORT!
Why are you reporting this here, bug report it with the ingame tool so they get the actual card details and state of the game etc, not just some people on forum saying "its brokes" |

With me, if a missile gets fired, my fps drops to 10 or below from 60, plus my entire screen freaks out with a series of gigantic yellow squares that cover the screen at first, and then slowly shrink until they disappear and then my fps goes back to normal, even if missiles are still getting fired.
This only happens once per undock, not sure about system change. Changing my graphics settings around doesnt help much except for resource cache, resource cache makes it worse but disabling it does not fix it. |

I too need to have my missiles effects off or my fps goes from a steady 60-65 fps to 10-12 ! nvidia 9500 gt quad cuore or whatever, 4gb ram and the graphic card is like 2 gb or so ..I dont understan much about computers but this one seems to run EVE very decently untill the new missiles effects got in |

So, this is not a simple ATI probem.

Hi!
We know about this issue, but we are still investigating our options for fixing / improving it. The issue is present on Tranquility, but it is indeed more pronounced now on Singularity with Inferno 1.1 (at least on some cards).
Workaround: Disable GPU particles in the settings menu. CCP Habakuk | EVE Quality Assurance | Team Gridlock Writing bug reports | Mass tests

Disable GPU particles in the settings menu just a cosmetic fix, not resolve the real problem. And what about the FPS drop when someone turning camera towards the sun ? And what about with space dusts in mission or anomalies ? |

Brilliant answer, honestly. From noticeable FPS drop on TQ it goes to insane fps drop on SISI, and best advice is to disable GPU particles. How about finding whats wrong and making it work, or at least rollback to TQ missiles setting that didnt make it unplayable. All that was added were small flares on missiles and it screwed things up.
A little smoke trail from a missile having this much of a hit on performance makes you wonder what the hell is in that bit of smoke. New smoke tech?
Space dust is a known problem, if they fix it like they fixed missiles i might as well stop playing. Guess i was stupid to extend my 2 acc playtime hoping against usual CCP MO that something gets fixed. |

This is being worked on this and we hope to regain at least the performance loss compared to TQ. I'll post more info as soon as we know more. CCP Habakuk | EVE Quality Assurance | Team Gridlock Writing bug reports | Mass tests

It is a brilliant answer, stop being a tard he said they are working to find what is causing it, and to fix it. As the GPU particles is a new feature the fact that you have to disable it isn't like its some huge change from the past lol, just disable the gpu particles for a while till the source of the issue is found. |

I have a fix :) increase missile velocity by 100% on all ships (that means ships that already have speed bonus, gets additional speed)... once this is done, adjust flight time to match same range as before...
Why you ask? to reduce the number of missiles in space at a given time... (it will also make sniping with missiles more viable than it already is) |

Interesting idea, but it won't help at all in this case, as the fps drop happens already for the first missile in space. Adding more missiles has nearly no further impact (at least on newer cards). CCP Habakuk | EVE Quality Assurance | Team Gridlock Writing bug reports | Mass tests

First missile effects deployed, 10 fps dropped. (current TQ) Second fixed missile effect deployed, 30 fps dropped....progress? (current SiSi)
Its not the fact i have to disable it, its the fact that its working worse than currently on TQ.
What do ya think, is it gonna go live on TQ with this fps impact? Or is this new missile effect gonna be removed from current SiSi build? And BTW, how many reported problems went from SiSi to TQ? And then wait for the patch for god knows how long, when it shouldn't be deployed in the first place.
Or how about the acid cloud in Recon 3/3 mission? How long ago was that reported? (hint, its just been a year since it was reported) Wanna know that went? Its still not fixed, its missing completely, the green cloud that did dmg to your ship is not there, you still take dmg, just the thing that dmged you isn't visible.
The on/off check box in options is the least of my problems. I can live without missile smoke, trust me |
