Hi again!
We made some changes to missiles yesterday evening, which reached Singularity this morning. Please check out your performance with missiles on ATI cards - on my test machine it looks like we are back at the level of current TQ. Please reply here with your observations and please send bugreports, if you find any related bugs. Thanks in advance! "Data Package Unavailable. The server you are connecting to doesn't have a published update package. Client update was unsuccessful" No option to click play button.
Now this may be a known problem and you may have published some workaround until you fix the launcher. But really I'll just wait til the launcher is fixed. |

Our apologies! This was a short time problem with the information about the currently active patch. It should be fixed now. CCP Habakuk | EVE Quality Assurance | Team Gridlock Writing bug reports | Mass tests

Confirmed. Much-much better after new patch. Obvious advance. Today i tried the missile affects with high settings and the frame drop decreased. From 75FPS to 50-52FPS and the FPS normalized back to 75 FPS after first salvo. Nice work. Please check the other fps drops too, when camera turning toward the sun. And a button would be nice too for turning off space dust in anomalies/mission spots. |

Is it worse than on TQ or about the same? Which card are you using? ATI? CCP Habakuk | EVE Quality Assurance | Team Gridlock Writing bug reports | Mass tests

Also as some people mentioned, when testing FPS make sure you use Interval Immediate. For normal gameplay this is not recommended, because it tells your GPU to go as fast as it can, and therefor it might get rather hot. But for testing you should use that, otherwise you can really report only two values: "60" or "30 and lower", with nothing in between. Thanks!

I tested with all graphical settings. With Vsync,Force Vsync,Interval default or Immediate or 60 70 75Hz monitor settings. No matter, when i tested with other setting the FPS dropped every times.
And no one want to test or playing without vsync (Interval Immediate) because no one want to boil his VGA, but that setting really make VGA cards to hot in fully load. |

Yes, I would definitely recommend just enabling Immediate for a short, focused test, and then setting it back to One. Thanks! |

This hasn't totally been fixed. The new Missile Effects as a whole require more thorough optimization.
Also, I'd like to confirm that the FPS drop when turning the camera at the sun occurs while in an asteroid fied, dropping the fps from a rock solid 60 into the low 40s.

I have a similar rig to the OP (ati card) and I get this problem too, along with the occasional giant yellow blob when I fire missiles, but only for the first time. |

Still seeing a massive drop in FPS when I have missile effects on.
I can run graphics on near max in a fleet of ~200+ drakes and get decent 40 fps (interval immediate). When we start shooting missiles with missile effects on, my FPS drops to 5-9 FPS...
Even when I turn everything on low and then turn missile effects back on, it still drops FPS to ~5. I know fleets of 200+ are intensive but I should be getting much better FPS for my rig. It's clearly the missile effects graphic.
If it cannot be fixed for ATI cards, please allow us to disable the smoke or something so we don't have to lose our FPS but can still see some sort of missile effect.

I do not experience this issue on ATI or nVidia hardware. you need to uninstall your drivers (using ATI's cleaner tool) and reinstall latest
also utilize task manager to make sure you're not CPU-bottlenecking. especially since 3-core AMD cpus are bin'ed cpus (4 core die with 1 core failing QC and thus disabled) Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design. |

I did notice an issue pre-patch (been having it for months), where my FPS would drop in the manner you describe while in station, then struggle for a minute or two and resume normal behaviour I'm curious what mobo you have because that is literally the exact same rig I am running atm (w/ ASUS Sabretooth X58 mobo). I never had that drop in station, however, the drop to 30 occurred often in asteroid belts and at sleeper sites. Seems like a fundamental problem as I doubt it is coincidence that 30 is exactly half of v-sync at 60, and when I watch the FPS graph it seems to be syncing to 30, not just spiking around.
Good to know I'm not the only one having this problem, though, for a long time I thought it was just me. I haven't tried missiles on the test server, but I get the 60-30 FPS drop on TQ when I'm hit with that first missile salvo. |
