Why not join some of the racial RP channels or such like, they're usually pretty good about avoiding RL stuff. However, that does mean you'll have to RP a little.
Personally, Zoners mutually agreed to a corpwide no-political discussion because we've a very wide political spectrum represented. The debates were just starting to warm up as well.

Can I just point out that people naturally want to discuss major world events of which the US election was one (shame we didn't get a vote in the UK!). It is the sign of a healthy intellect (ok, ok, sometimes I use the words Dumbass and Bush in the same sentance, but thats just my opinion).

Originally by: Dejesus Since the election (In the US) I cannot go into a channel without reading political talk. If I wanted $30 more worth of half-baked political analysis per month, I would buy more cable news stations.
I don't understand why people, especially in this very devisive time, can't have the candor and good manners to keep their political dogma out of the game -- but I have had enough of it.
The worst part of it is, people don't understand why this upsets me and make me out to be the bad guy. Also, I'd say 90% of all posts I've posted in MMORPG forums, about anything, have gotten flamed. This paints a pretty stark picture of my fellow gamers and I really don't want anything to do with people like this.
If that's what kind of party this is going to be, I'm gone. I'll be playing single-player games from here on out, where I can actually escape all this real-world garbage.

You are only hurting yourself. Do what I do. Turn off chat for a month or two. I just wihs we could leave corp chat and leave local.

It ****es me off too when I log on to EVE to be a space pilot and theres Republican vs Democrat spam in my chat channels. I'm not American, don't really care about American politics but every American in the world seems to think its okay to spam my channel with their frankly, bizarre electoral process and its sometimes comic developments.
But I just close the channel when that happens
I'm busy compiling a Dossier of the election of South Gakistankistanikan, after which me and my alts will spam various random ingame channels and out of game forums with furious and heated arguments dealing with the pros and cons as events unfold .

Why you do set the game on fullscreen instead of windowmode. I see only Eve and the rest of spam is blocked. We dutch people have no banners no crap in our window.
For person who started this topic there comes a new single player game out was called Imperium Galatica III now called Nexus. Looks like Eve maybe you need some time too play that.
An on 17 november you can play Eve again. The political hype is over then. And normal live will come america again i hope for you.

This is not the first case I have heard of of ppl leaving the game (or their corp) because of frequently discussed topics such as religion, politics, ethical issues etc...
Yes, some ppl get offended (i know of one case where a US player left his corp because every time he logged on he felt he had to defend himself and his country in corp chat). Now, in most of the cases its nothing personal, and there's no way you can control the topic of chats ingame, but I think that if topics such as the above are discussed, then a separate channel or convo should be opened for it. Not everyone is interested in political debate and banter. Or, the person affected can just minimize the chat and carry on with whatever he/she was doing. Not the nicest thing to have to do in a corp, but its the most direct solution.
And for those ppl that feel offended/affected, you have to learn to either shut off when discussions like these arise, and take all comments with a pinch of salt. Most of the time, ppl don't continue their discussion if you don't answer - don't fuel their fire.
What it boils down to is RESPECT and CONSIDERATION for others, other mentalities, other cultures etc... This is something that is often lacking within our commmunity - somehow hiding behind an online character makes ppl feel "safe" and thus they say things that might not say in RL to somebody in their face.
It makes me sad to hear that someone is leaving the game because of this.

First Ammendment, if you don't want to read it i would suggest blocking them or close the channel. And this isn't a flame.

Right-click character portrait-->Communicate-->Block. You'll never see their political rantings again!

Bigger corps and alliances should encourage their members to take 'off-topic' debates (especially those that have a high probability to alienate people: politics, religion, choice) to special chat-channels.
And of course invite everyone - who is interrested - to those chats. :)
