Edited by: Derisor on 10/11/2004 13:27:06 Personally, I dont understand why skills arent queuable anyway. If they are worried about people cancellign and letting the skill queue run, that would be easy to block. You merely dont train AT ALL unless you have an active account.
I also have a job and a life and I would like to not have to plan my life around eve. Furthermore, I have a harder time getting skill ups because I am training a lot of low level skills and I dont want to loose 4 hours. If I dint act like this I would need another 2 years to be able to PvP.
BTW you can already make skill queueing program. Just stay online and use a program that moves and clicks the mouse and keys.
Finally, selling a char on EBay will just get that char banned. I will be happy to report them as well. There is no point banning water because someone could drown someone in it.

which amounts to a macro, which gets you banned (if ccp finaly implements one of the ways to trace macro use that is).
aside from that, it isnt practical. Your ga,e client will crash at some point inevitably, leaving your macro dead in the water.

Edited by: Avon on 10/11/2004 14:56:26 Sutty, Disco; I know ccp want people to 'play the game', but I can't at work (ohnoes).
The point I am failing to make ( ) is that our concept of 'the game' should be broadened to include other technologies. Logging on to the Eve client on your PC is a way to access the game, but it is not, in itself, the game.
What I am suggesting are alternative ways of accessing the game. Logging on to part of the eve universe through your pda, mobile phone, or even a web browser isn't 'cheating'. You still have to invest the time, but you aren't tied to sitting at your PC to do it. I am fully aware that without careful planning such systems could be open to abuse, but I am sure CCP could create a working system.
I am not in favour of automation of skill training, I am in favour of more accessable game experience.
I want to chat in corp on my pda, or browse the market on my mobile or lots of other cool things. I am not asking to be able to do anything I couldn't if I was sitting at my PC.
The 'game' is a bunch of servers in London, I really don't see how a PC program, which is mostly just a portal to the game, is 'playing the game' any more than an a program on my phone or pda, or even a linux or mac port would be.
I am talking about expanding our horizons; thinking out of the box.
Besides, it would be a cool hook when it comes to advertising :) ______________________________________________
Never argue with idiots. They will just drag it down to their level, and then beat you through experience. |

Nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd, people need to see people logged on to get psyched about playing, people staying logged off and still training skills would give the world a less populated feel and be bad for the game all over, realize this and release.

No-one cares if you were afk, they just need to see the numbers when logging in and chances are you'll stick around talking to the people in your corporation or being seen by someone in local who needed that cameo.
Why not give everyone maxed out skills and all the trimmings if this concept of actually being logged in to improve is so foreign?

I've lost count of the number of times requests like these keep coming up. I for one support the concept, but as someone has pointed out the devs don't give a hoot. As it is they're having problems enough keeping the character info data base working. I've said it before, I think shear weight of demand will force the devs to concede and take it seriously, especially when other mmorpg space sims in development emerged with similar skills with off line training as standard.
"...master! there's a guy in the south village called IZON, he is a Ninja!" |

Nope, I wasn't afk. I logged in, changed skill, logged out.
I didn't stay in game, I only logged in quickly to change skill then got back to playing cs: source (which is a bag of nails btw.) ______________________________________________

You still made an impact on potential enemies who saw you online and got confirmation that you were still active and revived their resentment/hatred of you.
Bottomline is when you log on you make an impact and contribute, logged off not so much...

What is to prevent you being shown as logged in if you used a different way to connect to the server?
Your point is moot. ______________________________________________
