Get a 8Gb pendrive, make it bootable with ubuntu, wine and eve client. On your break boot computer from pendrive. 3. Be professional and don't use company time/resources to play games

I've never seen someone so self-important and ENTITLED to use company resources for personal game time. You have no understanding of work time versus personal time....and downtime while at work is still work time, using work reources, no matter how you slice it. All he did though was work on invention jobs and such. In all honesty though Hydroblunt, it is their computers and they can do with them what they like, which means if they don't want you playing video games then your SOL (unless you find a workaround). Just think if your IT guy realizes the workarounds you have used he may simply remove your rights to computers at all. Just imagine coming to work with a typewriter on your desk . ____________________________________________ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. You should work where i am, we have a very draconian set of rules, no external web based email (hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc), all game websites (luckily SHC isnt blocked), facebook, all blog sites (including MS technical blogs) the even the bbc iplayer is blocked, however youtube isnt (go figure!!). You would not last a month here, as if the only skills needed for my job were being mindless robot that is a "hard worker", my boss would have gotten someone like that for $10/hour. But the REALITY is that he had to have someone recommended for the job. It ain't all happy party time here. I don't have an hour mandated lunch, no sick days and no real vacation. It has to be balanced & handled between myself and the night shift guy, instead of asking for permission & directions from the boss. While you were sleeping off the feast you ate last thursday night/friday morning, I was at the office working nonstop. Real responsibility & competence, not a piker who just follows orders well. I'm quite happy I don't work for you either, not like you have any position worth even a fraction of where I work and what I do. Oh and I have no gripes if I get fired for playing EvE. That is the risk I take. I can handle that risk, part of my skillset.

SqualZell Madman	Posted - 2009.12.02 18:48:00 - [47] you could also have tricked your IT by asking him the admin rights for like the afternoon cuz you need to patch (pick a program and "accidently" delete it) a program that got corrupted and while you redownload the program (with admin rights) you can also patch eve. as for playing videogames at work? why not. if its your lunch break? by all means. if it makes you happy to play eve during your downtime you better be working the rest of the time. downtime is meant to make people relax and get their minds off the tasks for a while so they can come back with a fresh mind. on the other hand if i catch you playing (alt tabbed) during work time that is another story. even if you are AFK in a station not doing anything. a few years ago i worked for a company that had different lunch activities, (they extended the lunch by 30 minutes for a total of 1.5 hours) and one of those activities was a video game session where they would all get on (that time it was counter strike or unreal) and play for 1 hour. some did yoga, others did pilates, hockey/soccer, etc. it got people's morale up and where in effect more efficient at work in the afternoon.

Install the update and remove the temp admin account. Chances are that you might get fired over this though. Putting your job at stake over a game isn't that smart really. Personally, I wouldn't fire up Eve at work on principle - but then again I also know peeps who play the lame games that come with Windoze over lunch so... each to their own, right? I just have enough time at lunch to read an episode recap on televisionwithoutpity and a quick whizz through the BBC news pages before cracking on... But... to all those who've suggested the pen drive solution and where to put the files - thank you. I have a lowly sized HD and I'm stuck with this machine for another 3 years which fills up whenever I turn my back to trot to the printer Seriously - this could be a godsend for me 'cos I could totally use the space freed up ...

Speaking as one of those Ebil IT guys that wont let you play games at work its simple. people are idiots who when you give them an inch..... we used to allow people to install stuff yrs ago we stopped it dead. Here is why our network became full of illegal copies of games/industry software which could have landed the company in a world of hurt i.e. we ALL loose our jobs. games are awesome at just installing any old crap they need without telling you mess with video drivers etc. this can have all sorts of weird interactions with the software you work with and ***** and whine at me to fix it even though you broke it. finally theirs viri to contend with its hard enough keeping a network secure without letting people have a free run at installing any old crap. short version in my work the computers are MY responsibility and you will not do anything to compromise them and if i caught you playing eve (or any other game) i would show you the view from the open top floor window grow up and remember providing for your family/barman/mother whomever is FAR more important that internet spaceships. remember kids there's a recession on so im betting there's people just as competent at your job as you sitting in some job line looking for your job hmm that really turned into a rant didn't it lol it wasn't meant to. in short quit your whining grow up send me your tears.
