Originally by: Christopher Scott Confirmed that running EVE under Windows 98/ME compatibility mode fixes the voice issue.. while also making your client run lag like hell.
Just going ahead and confirming that Windows 98/ME mode 'fixes' the unable to connect to voice channel server issue. And yes, it makes it nearly unplayable and the voice stutters horribly. But it is something. Im going to update my bug report with this information.

Confirming I've also lost Eve Voice since Dominion. I'm running Win7 Ultimate x64 with Realtek AC97 drivers v6305.
* Eve Voice fails logging into Tranquility with any account. * Eve Voice works perfectly logging into Singularity with any account. (Note that currently, TQ and SISI are using identical builds.) * Clearing cache and settings folders makes no difference. * Win98/ME compatibility mode does fix the problem with Eve Voice (but is unworkable due to performance penalties.)
When Eve Voice fails, logserver shows the next info message from evevivox after "Init vivoxStatus was: 1" is "OnInitialized, failed 10035" instead of "OnInitialised, done initializing, logging in", etc.

Even more evidence that this is a codec/driver issue.
While both client builds are identical, it's the server that determines which codecs are used, and forces the voice clients to switch to these codecs.
I think that when EVE Dominion launched, CCP and Vivox upgraded Tranquility with High Fidelity(HD) voice codecs, while keeping Singularity limited to lower fidelity codecs, due to bandwidth restrictions.
Windows 7 probably handles HD audio a little differently than Vista, but most 'Windows 7' audio drivers remain largely unchanged from Vista, causing things to break hardcore. Premium hardware vendors, like Creative, probably have much better audio drivers, while low-class chipsets are just re-branded from Vista.
I'm willing to bet that CCP could easily fix this issue by switching EVE Voice back to pre-dominion codecs. This procedure takes less than 5 minutes in an SSH console and a server reboot.
So what do you say CCP? Can you at least rollback the post-dominion codecs and get EVE Voice working again, untill these issues are resolved?

Having the same issue on win7 x64
Only difference is, it works when Im at work (same laptop, different network)
I've tried fiddling with my router settings, disabling the firewall, opening ports (5060 & 5062, right?), updating firmware etc.
Still nothing..
anyone who might have clue on whats wrong?

Same problem here under Windows 7. Works great on the same computer under Linux+Wine, using the same EVE install... |

Hi.
This is a massreply to players reporting EVE voice problems after the release of Dominion
We have been working closely with Vivox on this issue, and believe to have found the problem. There appears to be a compatibility issue between Windows 7 and a third party library that Vivox uses in itĘs SDK
At this time we unfortunately do not have a workaround, however we are already testing a fix for the issue, which we hope to deploy next week.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this is causing in the mean while.
Should you be encountering issues with EVE Voice, and not use windows 7, please update this petition, and we will do what we can to assist.
Best regards, GM Zhainius EVE Online Customer Support

I got an e-mail yesterday from Vivox saying they had resolved the issue and it would be included in the next patch.
Now we just have to get on CCP to release the next patch with that included. Hell, I don't care if it fixes anything but eve voice.

Is there currently a workaround or somthing that can be used instead? I just joined FW after a long wait, and it is very annoying as just about every fleet uses eve voice to communicate.
Alternatively, does CCP have an ETA on the patch? Could it possibly be included in the patch to fix Hubs, outposts and sov blockade units?

You can run EVE in windows 98/ME compatiblity mode, however that makes the game extremly laggy for most ppl.. But might be worth a try.. GL
