Edited by: Roger Kiyosaki on 07/12/2009 14:36:47 While I found the proposal intriguing at first, I have problems understanding your need for funding. You say you can grab 20b without being caught, but ask for 18b max in funding to pull off the big heist.

New characters photo doesn't appear until 1 month after, that is why it is 'unstable'.
And why are you guys even responding to this as a 'possibly legit' thred. We should be spamming this whole thing with links to the goon theft business model.
To OP: You spent way too much time on this and would have made more putting that time to mining veld than you will ever make in this thread.

I guess nobody read the wall of text. :/ I can steal 20B right now, today, tomorrow. But I would get caught. If I can get a character without a paper trail, I can steal without getting caught.
Somebody brought up the issue with how much isk I would make off this venture, and pointed out I'd have to steal 200 Bil to make the 20 I could get back. Sorry, but you're overlooking something. Once the MD investors have been paid back more than 25% I will consider everything else icing on the cake. I get to keep the JF and character, worth probably 10B total. You should also go back and see where I'm planning to send this isk. I'm only taking enough to comfortably live off of. Finally, don't forget that I will be stealing without leadership ever knowing who did it. Stealing 20 Bil is worth slightly less than 20 Bil to me (reputation). Stealing 100 and getting away with it is priceless.

You could always stretch 1 ostrich to last at least 2 days so you'll have food for a year--maybe. Unless you're fat. And hungry. Or if your family enjoys "supersized Sundays" then you'll go through at least 1 full ostrich each Sunday alone.

Ostriches are ****ing huge, aren't they? A turkey apparently lasts our extended family about 3 days, I think an atomic family could probably go a week or more per ostrich

The problem is that they eat ALOT.. I mean ****ing ****-tons of food. Since the family would be broke it would be cheaper for them 'waste' the ostrich mean since they'd have to feed them less. Perhaps if they live close enough to a Chinese restaurant they could sell the extra meat for some 'chicken' fried rice. I mean an ostrich is pretty much a ****ing gigantic chicken so it would only be misleading at worst.

lulz, this sounds like an awesome minimax problem.
How quickly should the starving family eat its ostriches to maximize their survival time assuming that each ostrich provides Oout units of sustenance on average, and they have G edible units of grain which can either be fed to the ostriches or baked? Each ostrich requires Oin unit of sustenance per day, the family requires F units of sustenance per day.

As I've said, the new character is going to be a JF alt. Yes, going to MD puts slightly more risk on the plan, but unless PL wants to stop using JFers all together they really have no choice. JFs go to empire, which means they need to be wardec proof, which means they go in alt or npc corps.

edit: I guess as this is phrased they would want to slaughter all the geese at t=0, missing a decay function, oh well
Alternatively, I could run a Locator agent on this family, find their home system, then bring some friends and destroy them. Take their ostriches, and eat them myself.
No messy math there, too.

True but there is still the production bottleneck of feeding the gigantic chicken birds. Eggs are good for the family to sustain off of but if the birds themselves can't be fed it is a moot point. Also fun facts about Ostriches:
-They lives in nomadic groups which contain between five and fifty birds.
-The Ostrich is farmed around the world, particularly for its feathers, which are decorative and are also used for feather dusters. Its skin is used for leather and its meat marketed commercially.
-They mainly feed on seeds, shrubs, grass, fruit and flowers; occasionally they also eat insects such as locusts. Lacking teeth, they swallow pebbles that act as gastroliths to grind food in the gizzard. An adult Ostrich carries about 1 kilogram (2.2 lb) of stones in its stomach. When eating, they will fill their gullet with food, which is in turn passed down their esophagus in the form of a ball called a bolus. The bolus may be as much as 210 ml (7.1 US fl oz). After passing through the neck (there is no crop) the food enters the gizzard and is worked on by the aforementioned pebbles. The gizzard can hold as much as 1,300 g (46 oz).[6][clarification needed] Ostriches can go without drinking for several days, using metabolic water and moisture in ingested plants, but they enjoy liquid water and frequently take baths where it is available.
-Ostriches become sexually mature when they are 2 to 4 years old; females mature about six months earlier than males. The species is iteroparous, with the mating season beginning in March or April and ending sometime before September. The mating process differs in different geographical regions. Territorial males typically hiss and use other sounds to claim victory over a harem of two to seven hens.
-Ostriches are oviparous. The females will lay their fertilized eggs in a single communal nest, a simple pit, 30 to 60 centimetres (12û24 in) deep and 3 metres (9.8 ft) wide, sc****d in the ground by the male. The dominant female lays her eggs first, and when it is time to cover them for incubation she discards extra eggs from the weaker females, leaving about 20 in most cases. Ostrich eggs are the largest of all eggs (and by extension, the yolk is the largest single cell),[citation needed] though they are actually the smallest eggs relative to the size of the adult bird. û on average they are 15 centimetres (5.9 in) long, 13 centimetres (5.1 in) wide, and weigh 1.4 kilograms (3.1 lb), over 20 times the weight of a chicken egg. They are glossy cream-coloured, with thick shells marked by small pits. The eggs are incubated by the females by day and by the males by night. This uses the colouration of the two sexes to escape detection of the nest, as the drab female blends in with the sand, while the black male is nearly undetectable in the night. The incubation period is 35 to 45 days. Typically, the male defends the hatchlings and teaches them to feed, although males and females cooperate in rearing chicks. The survival rate is low for the hatchlings, with an average of one per nest surviving to adulthood. Predators include hyenas, jackals, various birds of prey, and vultures.
All right there from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostrich

Ostrich birth rate is apparently 15-60 per season per female.
An ostrich in captivity requires 3.5 kg of food per day, 100-180 kg mature weight, 1.1kg per egg laid.
Eggs keep several months when refrigerated, haven't been able to find a guesstimate for an average though.
Poultry seems to be good for 2 days in a refrigerator below 40 degrees F.
If I wasn't in the middle of a computer lab trying to do some real homework I would gather more data and bust some math out on this

Ostrich Eggs Are Edible
Ostrich eggs weigh approximately 3 lbs., equivalent to 18-24 chicken eggs. The eggs resemble and taste like a chicken egg.
Compared to chicken eggs, Ostrich eggs have increased portions of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are most desirable in our diet.
Ostrich Eggs may be boiled whole:
Cover the egg with cold water and boil for 2 hours, add ing water as needed. Let egg cool in cold water for 15 minutes. Once cool, use a small hammer or similar sturdy kitchen utensil to crack shell. Peel away the shell and egg membrane. The egg will now resemble a large chicken egg and can be used in any of your favorite recipes.
Ostrich Eggs may be scrambled:
Scramble an Ostrich Egg just as you would scramble chicken eggs. One Ostrich Egg yields 10-12 servings.
Ostrich Eggs in baking:
1/4 cup Ostrich Egg equals 1 chicken egg in any recipe. The egg whips up smooth and fluffy.
Freeze what's left for later:
Ostrich egg can be frozen once removed from shell, then quickly defrosted when needed.
Helpful Hint - Distribute egg yolk evenly in an ice cube tray for easy removal and cooking.

Ok, I didn't read that entire wall of text, but I do know, just without reading, that this isn't going to be succesfull.
Recently we had Yih, who came with the great idea to steal, disband and scam Goonswarm. Now this was all a scam. And Yih was succelfull in scamming a few people here in MD.
A few weeks later you come along with the same idea to scam PL. interesting idea though, but we all know how it went with Yih, so therefor your plan isn't going to work, even IF you have the right motivation.
Goodluck with your venture tho ______________________________________ If only EVE could cook, if only.... |
