At first glance i loved the new mail system, now maybe im just a moron ( dont answer that), but there seems to be some seriously important things missing.
Such as the ability to have all mail from one user stay stacked on that user, why should i have to search a long list of crap, when i can simply click on so and so's name, and see all the mail in a nice fancy order.
What happened to persistent corp mails? Why do i need to send new ventrillo evemails to every single new member? The same goes for a whole crap ton of informational corp evemails, that i now must resend to every new members.
Is this feature or bug? Is this feature or just my stupidity?

Edited by: Serge Bastana on 18/12/2009 19:01:55 The subject of losing the persistent corp mails is one I do agree with, it's very useful to have new corp members receive a series of corp mails that give them such details as vent server info and other corp related information. Having conversations grouped, ala Google Mail, would be a nice feature, or even grouped by sender as suggested.
If they made it so you had some notification of a corp bulletin, such as the corp neocon button flashing when a new one is posted, that would make them more useful. At the moment you have to rely on everyone checking for new bulletins or send out a mail to let them know about it
The new mail system is an improvement, at least now you have insurance notifications instead of mails filling the inbox, bit of tweaking would be much appreciated though. ------------------------------------------------ You either need a punch up the throat or a good shag.

This is why they created Corp Bulletins. Go to the Corporation menu and enjoy.

I do know how to use them, I've already set some up, but as I mentioned, if members don't check them regularly or you prod them when you post a new one, they can easily go ignored, there is no form of notification if one is added or amended.
Just the corp button lighting up like your wallet would be enough. ------------------------------------------------ You either need a punch up the throat or a good shag.

You can sort by sender, if you'd like, or by one of the other numerous columns we now have.
In fact, you can also apply labels as they come in, tagging this one for business, that one for personal, etc. Remove the Inbox label from them to remove them from your Inbox but keep them around.
Originally by: Serge Bastana If they made it so you had some notification of a corp bulletin
I haven't noticed, but yeah, that would be the only really problem with the corp mail/bulletin feature.
At least now you can have a discussion with your corp/alliance now without it having to be recorded in permanency (and rely on the CEO or someone to get rid of it).
Originally by: Serge Bastana bit of tweaking would be much appreciated though.
Tweaking is always appreciated, but yeah, I love the new system. :)

seroiusly, corp bulletins are far better than persistent corp mails.
when in large alliances, persistent mails are a pain in the ass. Specially when 70% of them are lolchats

I like it a lot, since it works just like gmail now :)
those that use gmail are used to using labels instead of folders. Makes things easier.
gmail and evemail rock when they get the out of game interface made that cosmos thing then it will be really cool

Does anyone else have formatting problems? If I send out a mail and bold a certain word everything looks fine and proper in the mail. Then I send it and everything after the bold word will also be bold. Another corpmate sent out a mail and half of it was pink ---------------- A million faces, each a million lies |

New mail system is utterly awesome
better title is does ANYONE actually want to go back
Even lacking a bulletin notification aint much of an issue, noobs check it when they join corp get all the relevent info and then if some other important persistant info is updated then send out a corp mail to announce it.
its so much better its impossible to fathom why anyone would go back -----------------

Sure it's not gmail, and could use a few tweaks here and there, but for a free in-game mailing system it's pretty damn awesome. And it's over 9000 times awesomer than what it used to be like, so can't really complain. I mean, can and likely will, but still... ____________________________________________________________________ Pesets - Russian for 'polar wolf'. Pronounced like 'presets' without the 'r'. |

No.

I don't know, why exactly would you?
Originally by: Gunsnroses What happened to persistent corp mails?
Do your emails behave like that? Do you think that was intuitive? Don't you think a nice corp-bulletin would be the better solution? Duh, guess what, it's there. They might need to make it a bit more prominent and possibly add notifications to it, though.
Originally by: Gunsnroses Why do i need to send new ventrillo evemails to every single new member?
Bulletin, much?
Originally by: Gunsnroses The same goes for a whole crap ton of informational corp evemails, that i now must resend to every new members.
Must implies there is no other solution. How about reading the patchnotes though?

Edited by: Gunsnroses on 19/12/2009 13:04:02 Ok, so when i click the sender column , as i was already aware you could, all it does is change the list by sender, then i still must go through a list of individual mails from different people, that may mean i have to search multiple pages for the evemail im looking for, when it would be amazingly more efficient, to have all evemails from one person stacked on top of each other like in the past.
I get upwards of 30 evemails a day sometimes. Its a serious pain in the ass to have to search, and yes you do need to search, no one yet here as offered me a more efficient way to find one specific evemail.
As someone else pointed out, the corp member must check the bulletins on their own, and lets be real, people in eve are lazy and stupid, stuff gets missed all the time.
I liked the imporvements as a whole, but When you had 5-6 different evemails with information for the corp, bulletins that people arnt not even aware of dont seem like the answer.
When you have 15 relevant evemails from an individual that you can not delete, yeah, it clutters the hell out of the inbox, with no way to stack them. Because the inbox, and label all you want, i shouldn't have to sort 30 evemails a day, when a computer can do it for me. LEaving still the inbox cluttered with 100s of evemails.

You can add labels to any Eve Mails. You can also remove the Inbox label from them. After Dominion hit it took me, like, 5 minutes to get ALL of my emails sorted and my inbox cleaned up.
You can also view sent mail, even trashed mail. And I can clean up ugly corp chatter Eve Mails my previous CEO was insistent on not touching.
Yes, search would be a great addition, and it's what they should do next. Also, flashy on new corp bulletins is needed; workaround, send out corp mail informing of new bulletin (that parts crappy, I agree).
Yes, I still think the current Eve Mail system is worlds above the previous.

As a random player i like it, but as a ceo i do not like it.
It makes more work than before, makes communication yet harder.
Most ceo's i've talked to cant stand the new system, ofc some like it, but this makes running a corp that much more difficult and time consuming.

True.

Efficient when trying to search by sender. But face it, most of the time you don't (or I don't, anyway). What you want is a search function. Like containers have it.
Originally by: Gunsnroses As someone else pointed out, the corp member must check the bulletins on their own, and lets be real, people in eve are lazy and stupid, stuff gets missed all the time.
Yeah, which is why I agreed that some sort of notification would be cool. Or a userdefined welcome message (instead of the lame default one). You could use it to tell them to read the ****ing bulletins or be kicked again right away ;)
Originally by: Gunsnroses bulletins that people arnt not even aware of dont seem like the answer.
It's a new feature. People tend to ignore these for a while. Others will ignore it because it's new and "DONT WANT THEIR EVE TO CHANGE EVER!". Eventually people will come around. See "Fitting Window" :)

Duh, first of all, remove the inbox tag and assign some tags. And then, "a computer" did not do it for you before Dominion either. You just happend to be lucky to like the incredibly uncommong concept of grouping mails by sender. People who are used to todays email-clients probably won't.
Anyways, I would like to see a search function (like containers have it) and a filter function (as you could find it in email clients like Thunderbird) to automatically assign tags to mails. -

I like it now. I did not like have to move all alliance and corp 'stickies' to the bulletin and having to badger my members to read said bulletin every week. Sorry to derail a bit, but I have to throw my .02 in on this.
The newer fitting window still sucks, but mainly because of the huge picture of my ship in the middle of it. I understand it's potentially "useful" for fitting T3 ships, but I would really appreciate a way to close that out and shrink the fitting screen. Even on higher resolutions, it takes up way too much real estate pointlessly. It could easily be shrunk to a 3rd of the size and still keep all the same information displayed.
And to put the thread back on topic: I'd love a "group senders" option like the old evemail system. Otherwise, I love the new evemail. The lack of persistent corp mails does take a little getting used to, but the bulletins make up for that. I just want more than 10, and a notification feature when there is a change or new addition to them.
