Is there any possible way, other than manipulating the master volume/world volume, to disable in-station sounds?
I cannot tell you how much I HATE hearing the chanting in Amarr stations, which is where I make my living in EVE. My alt is a trader, so he spends the majority of his time in the trade hub and, guess what? All I hear is the stupid ass chanting.
Short of lowering the master volume/world volume, can I possibly disable this?

You can plug your ears up with a hot glue gun. That should take care of it.

Confirming workaround to the issue.
If you're bothered that much: turn off the sound like everyone else?

I like the gluegun idea and the mute. Unfortunately I'm always on my main who pvp's, so I'm in vent @ the same time. Thus, glue nor mute are viable options.

Glue gun only one ear. Works, I promise.
Or just mute Eve and not vent.

Bump for this to get fixed by CCP, I'm having the same issues myself.
Reading earlier posts about the issue, you used to be able to just switch out the chanting sound file to an empty one to circumvent it, but alas that's not an option anymore as the soundfiles are baked into a propritary CCP resource format.
I guess we aren't allowed to talk about "modifications" to this new format either.

Set "World Level" to 0.0 - but this will also kill your turret sounds.
I hope they'll replace the "quieter turret sounds" checkbox with a slider one day, so those don't have to be covered by "world level" anymore. -

I can confirm that this is a hidden feature present in the Dominion expansion, and it is completely intentional.
It is aimed at reducing the number of inactive alts who sit in stations all day long and take up valuable server resources of the trade hubs while they engage in the universally hated practice of 0.01 isk wars.
After listening to numerous player written petitions on the subject CCP finally decided to act on the issue and came up with an ingenious solution. Rather then outright log people off after certain intervals of inactivity, CCP implemented a highly experimental doctrine of acoustic warfare. Hidden patterns in the station soundtracks are designed to increase the levels of annoyance and pure rage of the subject, compelling the individual to log his trade alt off while screaming obscenities out of their window at the passerby's. Preliminary results have already shown an overall 12% decrease in lag in such systems ad Amarr Prime and Jita.
Warning: CCP can not be held responsible for any unintended side effects incurred after voluntary exposure to station sounds for prolonged periods of time. If a player chooses to endure the sounds and ignore the warnings you are doing this at your own risk. Side effects may include, but are not limited to : severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, drooling and compulsive desire to view internet pron. Select individuals who fell asleep while listening to the sounds were observed to burst into uncontrollable rage and go on murderous rampages.
So be responsible, log off your trade alts and don't expose yourself to ambient station sounds for more than two (2) hours per day.

I am reasonably sure that if you untick "Load station environment" in settings, this stops the annoying Amarrian chanting (and any other station noises). However, it also means you can't spin your ship in the station, and tbqfh, this is too high a price to pay!

Unless you need sound on your trade alt client when its up, why not just disable it and leave sound running on your pvp client?
Its what I do. I personally like having sound going when I pvp cause its all "PEW PEW PEW!!!! KABLAMMO!!!!!!" and it makes my epeen get hard and drippy I apologize for having one of those sigs...Sorry. |

Sadly, doing this merely disables your ability to spin your ship and leaves the sound intact.

the sound in eve is hands down the worst of every mmo i ever played.
the constant cacophonia in the amarr stations is bar any description. its unbelievable that ccp isnt doing anything about it.

Yea, i agree, it's quite annoying, they should get an option to turn off the station and space sound, so that i can only hear my turrets/missiles go off, i hope they will do this when they have time.

I love the sound in eve! And I love how each station / area looks & SOUNDS different...
I miss the awesome superhighway Neon advert Trade Hub Gallente Stations though... Bring those back CCP! I miss watching the traffic zoom by and the Pleasure dome holo-adverts... all while trying to station trade in my spreadsheet for the region. I think I've spent over half my eve career station trading in that way.
(As it stands now.. the only single Gallente Station interior is a bit bland for what their race is supposed to represent. :)
In short... the monks who chant in Amarr station are pretty rockin... maybe I should collaborate with them... make some rockin' new tunes to blast over my space radio to the other pod pilots.
Peace! _

Eve has sound?
I got tired of the loud static-like noise when entering and coming out of warp (and thank god they finally put in a toggle to turn off camera shake...I hated that more than the noise), and I turned sound off like a month after I started playing. I turn it back on every so often because the music is kinda neat...but then I just turn it back off cause...meh.

Only have sound on for FPS. Subtitles ftw (have kids and you know why)
Hope CCP audio department doesn't believe we don't turn audio on because we think it's poor quality. It just gets in the way of the FC calling orders.
Mmos ALL have overbearing levels of extraneous features (vocal delivery of the same courier object or whack 30 moles missions).
All we need is the playability!
Having, said this, turning audio on and off solved this one for me. Some setting was not upgraded properly.

I must admit, the audio in stations needs to be adjustable (that chant will drive you insane eventually). But let us not forget the overpoweringly loud sound that Sensor Boosters make as well. It's like a drill to the temple.
I prefer engine and weapons sounds to be noticeable (since engine sounds fade after a course correction or change in speed). Everything else should be background and have a separate volume control.
Just my 2isk.

Well at least your sound appears to be consistent. I often find myself wondering during combat if I ran out of ammo or if the enemy gave up and warped off because I'll be jammin....BOOM! SWISH! SWISH! BOOM KABOOM! SILENCE!......... wtf? *checks* ....ah, eve sound decided it was time for his 15 minute break...gotcha. > WHILE SIG<AWESOME DO LOOP there is no escape from my crappy sig. |
