this has probably been tried before, but i want to as no more dual mwd's might mean it can't be done soon. if i put 5 mwd's on a scorp i think i can get up to 431 km/s. with this sort of set up would it be possible to get to the gate or is it not even there

No ship I've flown has reached more than 165 m/s in New Eden system, with or without AB or MWD

I left an alt floating towards it in a pod a few months ago. Was really pretty, like mindflood.

The speed indicator was broken in that system, but I think the speed actually was what you would expect in any other system as far as I recall. Travel some near the gate to see what I mean...
I went there before I was able to use MWD though, so it may have changed now or maybe I remember wrong.
The funny thing is that I was thinking of that system last night, considering whether I should I try to get a dual mwd crow or something and try to reach it before the dual mwd nerf...

been there multiple times. there is a (i believe purposeful) glitch in your readings while in that system. you can guesstimate velocity based off of other objects in space, so i know i'm going the normal speed.
personally, i like the little "easter egg"... 8)
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |

Of course, I might be wrong. So to check, try a direction scan towards it. If it doesn't show up, I suspect that you could fly forever in that direction and never reach it.

You are correct. The eve gate isn't a physical object that can be reached - its just some fancy paintjob in the background (like nebulae).
New Eden is by far the most boring system in Eve... 1 jumpgate, 1 planet, 1 sun, no belts, and a billion secured spam-cans in orbit around the star.

my first trip, i found a random corpse... 8)
also, there is at least one derelict station to check out. but, yes. other than that, nothing "eve-like" to do there.
there is "some" stuff to do. you just gotta think about it a little...

EVE GATE is said to disrupt your sensor abilities and idicators. You still fly your full speed just your ship will not indicate it is all. I myself located a station out there. Nice little place but it's abandon. -Smiles.- There is a said rumor that there is a lost ship that you can fly... it needs fixing though. Also every race and ships skills to five, not to sure about this. -Smirks.- You'll never find it before me if it's real. I already know where it would be! MUAHAHAHA!
