Hmmm, Friends with common goals tend to enjoy working under one banner.
As for reasons? Strength in numbers is probably the biggest one for me.

Some other reasons, and just for starters.
1) Shared resources in Corp hangers wherever your corp hangs its board.
2) Testing. You don't take sec hits for shooting your own corp members in empire if you want to test say, damage, tanking, etc. in a controlled environment (ie. fiend stops shooting when you take armor or hull damage).
3) War declaration. So you can take a fight to your enemies (and they to you) in empire space without the police having a hissy fit and blowing you and your friends up.
4) Quick standing changes. Set standings for your whole corp so bad guys show up red for everyone, and friendly corps and allies show up blue. Big advantage over having everyone trying to keep track of this sort of thing independantly.
5) Group mail - You can easily mail updates, warnings, policy changes, etc, to everyone in your corp with a single button.
6) Corporate wallet - Either pitch in in a structured manner or have it all voluntary. Creates a kitty where one of your corp members can recover from a mishap fast, or from which you can buy blueprints that individually your members might not be able to afford.

-corphangars to which all can get access (no more trading of items) -ppl can share factories or labslots via the "for corp" option if you grant them the needed access -setting standings (so your guys can visually see who are friends or hostile towards your corp -declaring war (you can hunt enemies of your corp in empire without fearing the wrath of concord or sentries) -giving your group a noteable name to which other outside individuals can refer to or remember (maybe u want to apply to an alliance) -allows you to shoot (for testing or for training) your corpm8s in highsecurity systems without concord having a party at your place -will most likely enhance other ppls views or trust in you as you wont be seen as an alt or scamming character (ppl are quiet suspicious doing business with chars in newbie corps) -last but not least its less likely ppl on these boards will call you "CA ALT" or "FA ALT" whenever you voice your opinion contradicting their view on things (eventho even if ure in a small corp will it not stop the really thick headed gluesniffers from doing so)

As well as corp factories, corp labs, corp structures/cans, etc. -- TomB: End the speed-race. 1 propulsion mod allowed, make turrets affect ship attributes like +speed/+ab speed +agil for progressivly smaller/lighter turrets, -speed/-ab speed -agil for long-range. |

One thing for sure: More fun !!!
The first 3 days in EvE I got bored fast... ok since then from time to time, but both corps I had/have the chance to be member in, provided me with fun. And that is the game all about imho...
You have common goals to work to, you achieve them earlier then alone (at least in most cases...) etc.
Since beta of EvE :: The BIG Lottery :: want to win ISK ? |

I like sorting out all my nifty items in the corp hanger really. It's a lot easier then using cargo cans to sort items.
But that's my personal preference
Member of the Curse Alliance before the Corruption Leader of The Black Plague.

Edited by: Germain on 17/11/2004 00:27:38 well thank you all for your help with this. i have three friends that play eve-online and we do everything that a corp does but we do not have a banner/corp name. i think this is the only differance. and may be the corp stations in shiva but i do not have enought cash or skill to do them anyway. mmmm well i still need to think about this 1.5M isk for doing what i do anyway. unless this isk gathering is better then i do not think it need a corp yet. i wil see what shiva get me first i think. moon mining for instance seems like a good idea and a corp would be good for that as we could all poool the things we have to get low end moon minning op started. this is the only thing i can see that will be good. what does everyone think of that?
i like the singing thing. hi ho hi ho its off to work we go with a rupter and miner2.....

Nope. And I highly doubt that they will anytime soon. Player corps are for the players. NPC corps are for CCP storyline/agent implementation/supply and demand widgets. As well as providing your 'starting' corporations, which you do your initial tutorials from and provide protection from war declarations in Empire space.
