Part 1, when Lady luck is a cheap Phillipino Hooker.
I spend 4 days looking for a Class 3 to inhabit. I scan some 24 Lowsec, 20 Null, and about 20 Hisec systems looking for a C3. There are many, many wormholes, and almost as many POS. Hundreds of sigs later I stumble across a C4 exiting into the C3 I came into from K-Space. After scanning down the 25 or so sigs I decide to sit in the system and see what the go is with statics.
3 more days in the same system, it would appear that it has only 1 exit, to a C3. I'm thinking well what the hell it's not the system you're in right, it's the ones it links to, right? Dead end system that spawns it's own Class 3's Jackpot!
I won't bore you with the moving in details except to say I was missing a fair bit more than I thought I was in terms of modules and POS gear and fuel.
Five days later I decide it's time for a fuel run, since I'm all settled in and there's only 14 days left on the H2, I scan out the C3 next door and pop my head out of the lowsec exit it's got. Sweet...only 1 jump from hisec and 9 more to Amarr. One gate to hisec, how tough can that be right? I park my Anathaema 300kms off the gate and watch local for a bit. Three gentlemen with terrible Security rating inhabit the system. Hell it's JUST ONE JUMP!
I fire up another client and load up the Orca with as much Ark as it can hold, which isn't a lot btw CCP.. The gate is clear, I pop out the WH, warp to zero, and jump to safety.
Off to Amarr, I buy stacks of fuel, some skill books, T2 mining crystals, some other bits and pieces, park the Orca the last system before Lowsec, and pod hop some 26 jumps to pick up my freighter which has all my POS guns and refinery etc in it.

Part 2, when it turns out she also has crabs.
So, all loaded up ready to rock and roll, corp hangar is full, fuel in cargo, scout off the gate, finger hovering over the jump button. Procrasinate a bit more...and jump! Red warps to gate...mother(&^%. I'll bait him with the Co-ops! I decloak, he's not interested, I warp to 100 from the gate, still not interested, I slow boat away from the the gate, still not interested, god damnit I'm about to decloak the
Orca! In slow motion the Orca emerges....
Locked and scrambled, no web though and I'm 9500m from saftey, start back to the gate. GO GO I can make this! He's NOS'ing me but it's not really working, I have a huge shield buffer, DCII, and a large Booster, 5500m to go and I'm in armour now. I need to buy some time, so in local I offer 50 million as ranson, and he agrees! Awesome!
And here is where I find out she has crabs...this is my mistake. I pay him, talk him out of shooting me, turning off the scram, but I do something stupid. I turn and initiate warp to the wormhole. Why, why? 2800m from the gate I turn around.
2 more reds...but these guys are a little more professional, I'm webbed now, double scrammed, and they are bumping me. He refunds my cash...and in return gets a mail.

I got a convo about an hour later from the one I paid, he apologised for the mix up and offered to transport my stuff through the system to the other side. I politely declined, not wanting to give away that I wasn't going all the way through.
I don't like being a victim, and I did everything right as far as recon goes. They either had scouts on the hisec side or something. Either way Lady Luck still gave me crabs.
Now as much as you want to do otherwise, there's only one thing to here. Keep your mouth shut! Take your hands off the keys, go outside, whatever. Just don't type.
I pick up my Prorator, and instead make 8 trips back and forth to get all I had to get done, done. Probably would've been quicker if I had done that in the first instance, and certainly cheaper. I even sang them a couple of lines of a tune I know. Guess who's back, back again..

Part 3, and she's not a she...
Today all my sites despawn, I'm left with one dodgy Grav and two radar. Oh and now there's a C5 exiting in here as well, that only took a week to show up...fabulous!
Talk about being on the rag and ovulating. So I set about doing these radars. My Tengu is leet yo! So it should be for the price tag. I take out the frigs, swap from a painter to an AB and set the cruisers and lone BS on fire. Dude I'm loving this ship...
So I've got a plan, kill everything, bring in an alt, pop a can, then kill off the new spawn leaving the last BS up and 100kms off the cans so I can jack them without having the deal with the 4 BS reinforcements. So that's what I do..oh wait except I kill the last BS and get 4 safeguards.
It's not going terribly, I'm actually tanking it! Wait no I'm not. Oh yes I am baby. Ahh...ok that one hurt. I'm quad scrammed, quad webbed the missile volleys are ripping me up. Little bit of armour gone, and I'm sitting right up on the screen going "cmon pulse you &^#%" I curse myself out for not remembering to train thermodynamics to AT LEAST LVL ONE! I have the skill injected...
I'm going down...the Tengu is all crunchy outer shell but it's soft and yummy inside. All I have to do is take one of them out, he's at 25% armour, I'm going to make it! Oh ^%#$...into hull. CMON PULSE FASTER! 50% shields again oh yeah I'm rocking out now! What the...damnit...
I go outside for a smoke. Caldari Offensive Systems -1 bud, meh it's only 4.5 days.

I did eventually get the Booster and the last CNBCU, and promptly woke the whole house up with "YEAH EAT IT *****ES!" However I now have left a helios, 2 mallers, 2 transports, and a badly wounded drake. As it turned out my remote reppers were in the Orca..so the drake wont get armour or hull repairs.
It's been a long day and my bits are itchy.

Know anyone that wants to buy a fully fueled and fitted POS in a C4 with it's own static C3 exit?

Sounds rough....
but I kinda have to wonder how you got this far into the game, and obtained the resources you describe, while being so naive. Hostile pies in a low sec system and you don't assume they have eyes in neighboring high sec? He popped in on you that fast at the gate, did you bother to check your directional scan to see if he was sitting just off grid? Attempting to run C4 sites with a faction fitted T3, without bringing a friend along at first, just in case?
Sorry to say it but from your story it sounds like you either have a bought character or really ****ty judgment.

Two tips: * Carry 5x EC-600 drones, and learn how to spam engage/return so they always jam. * Fit a 100MN MWD so you can warp in 10 seconds (deactivate as soon as the cycle begins)

Edited by: Lusty Wench on 24/12/2009 18:40:08 **** son, you don't know unless you try! I'd rather go out and have a go than spend a week researching what the ultimauberest method is.
So long as I still have 900m saved for GTC I can throw the rest away.
The first time I ever setup a POS was 2 months ago...this is only the second time I've done it.
Don't be scared, take a chance. You might get a cool story out of it.

Hehe, nice story man. Chuckled a bit at your loss record there, going back with one ship after another to retrieve your stuff. It reminds me of the time I tried some cosmos plexes in my Imicus as a brand spanking new player. 5 of those Imicuses, in fact, one after another. :p
Anyway, the booster is too big, but you could have gotten the invulns / hardeners out with a Zephyr, I hear sleepers don't attack those.
Yeah, good read, and I applaud you for not doing it the *****footed way, but charging in head first into the unknown. Only way to play man, even if I have to admit, not without shame, that I've gotten a bit more cautious over time myself.

I don't get why people get hung up on gender so much. It's a ****ing game, where you're a spaceship more then a person, and it's *all* pretend.
IOW, What does it matter the gender of your avatar, when nothing else is real either, and when avatar means little to nothing in this game?

Ahh yeah..not so much. If you have to look at a toon for long periods, you make it something you like to look at. Remember that when you see all the pale closet dwellers with the tough guy avatars.

Oh right, the reason I'm checking this thread.
You can stop mailing me about "Hey if you're giving away the POS"
I have 17 minutes left on a successful and complete EVAC.
Couldn't afford to replace either the Orca or the Tengu, so it's over for a month or so, while I replace them. They are both pretty fundamental to my plan.
I'd like to thank Zee Russians next door for letting me traverse thier hole unmolested.

Seriously, you don't think you have enough space already on the Orca so you need to fit expanded cargo hulls? If you had fitted two warp core stabilizers you would never have worry about this kind of situations. Further, 5 ECM drones and a few ECM modules in the midslots have never hurt anybody either.
Oh, and your alt in the cov ops should of course fit a webber to enable instant warping for your Orca. ---------------- Mr. Science & Trade Institute

Nice story. Well written, good sense of humor and genuine enjoyment of the game. ...this doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |
