So I'm looking to build a max dps BS for the purpose of tearing down abandoned hi-sec POSs. I figured max dps, cap stability and minimal ammo usage would be the primary considerations. This lead me to Amarr BS line. Please forgive the following EFT warrioring.
After reviewing fits for the Armageddon, Apocalypse, Abaddon and Paladin, I've found the Armageddon to be the best ship for my needs. This setup, with my skills and implants is cap stable and fits. The sustained dps is 1162 not overloaded. This setup does not include the 5% dmg bonus implants to laser and large laser turrents.
Highs 7x Tachyon Beam Laser IIs fitted with Gleam L ammo
Mids 1x 100MN MWD 2x Cap Recharger IIs
Lows 5x Imperial Navy Heat Sinks 1x Capacitor Power Relay II 2x Reactor Control Unit IIs
Rigs 3x Large Capacitor Control Unit Is
Drones 5x Garde IIs
Fitting specifics look like this: 564.25/636.56 CPU 27244.50/27276.56 PG cap stable at 34%
I do not know a lot about Amarr ships or energy weapons so I'm hoping you guys could provide input. I've found that while fitting 5 heat sinks does not improve the dmg much over 3, there is still a bonus. I've also found that the 5 heat sinks pretty much negate the bonus of any damage mod rigs, also rigs would break the fitting.
Thanks in advance

Max DPS? Torp Raven.
Minimal Ammo? Amarr ships.
Keep in mind the Raven will always hit at the weakest(0%) resist, but vs a Minmatar tower the Amarr ship runs into 50% EM 25% Thermal. Minmatar towers are kinda common. Even without the resists the Raven out damages amarr by a good margin.
Also use Ogre II's rather than Sentry Drones. You're not dealing with a shield, right?

Use an apoc fitted with pulse. Its the best ship for cap stability and with t1 crystals fitted in the guns you can just leave it chug away forever.

Assuming your attacking a POS that is actually abandoned and will not attract attention when you wardec it, whats the point of a MWD which is reducing your capacitor? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just use standard multi-freq ammo over Gleam and will not break requiring a reload? Wouldn't an abaddon be easier to fit Tachs, larger power grid allowing you to fit an 8th turret (which both Apocalyse and Abaddon can do) for a small ammount of additional damage?
Quote: I've also found that the 5 heat sinks pretty much negate the bonus of any damage mod rigs, also rigs would break the fitting.
The 5 heatsinks are a waste, 3 tops out most benifits and you could stick more capacitor power relays/tracking enhancers/signal amps in the lows which negate wasting low slots on the same module giving very little ROI. Rigs are dirt cheap now unless your looking at tech 2, you could easily get better benifits to optimum/capictor recovery over a few decimal places for damage.
My computer with EVE stuff is currently down, but I would use something like this if you just making a gun platform to smash things and not expect the owner to show up. Abaddon (damage bonus more useful over optimum on the Apocalypse) (highs) 8x tachs with standard ammo multi-freq (mids ) 3x capicitor rech II Alternatively, targeting comp/sensor boost what ever you prefer (lows) 3x heat sink, Reactor control, Cap Power Relays to your needs,

Thanks for all the replies. I did think I'd start out with T2 stabilizers over the imperial navy. The MWD was for the times when I warp in out of optimal range. This seems less of an issue with lasers but my first ship I setup was a blaster mega which required me to be on top of the POS.
I do appreciate the input on other ships/guns/dmg mods but could you post some of the reasoning behind the suggestions? I set up all 4 ships with similar setups (where possible) (tachs and full stabs) and the setup I posted came out to have the highest dps. Am I missing something? What about using faction multifrequency over regular T1 crystals? I chose the gleam cause they were cheaper than the navy crystals and more dps. How do low mods like tracking enhancers affect your dps against a stationary target?
Isk is less of a concern than time to me. So higher dps at the cost of a few more mil doesn't bother me a lot. again, thanks much :)

You mean T2 Heatsinks? stabilizers would be Gyrostabilizers for projectile weapons.

Scout with a Tech 1 fast frig (atron for example), 1mn micro warp drive/cap rech in mids and 1 nanofiber/1 overcharge in the lows level 4 skills can make an atron go just over 600ms a second without the MWD on, 3000+ ms a second for about a minute with it on. Find a position and make a bookmark (People/Place tab just under character tab) or bookmark the POS itself (not sure if thats possible ), then warp to opimal distance with a battleship. Tachs with mimimal skills should have 50k optimal or so, not sure after skills and crystals, have only played with EFT on amarr ships.

Tech2 crystals get about 1000 shots and you won't be destroying the towers very quickly, with T1 crystals you can go AFK for a few minutes at a time (assuming you get no response to defend the POS). It shouldn't be about how quickly you take down the POS with the highest DPS but how efficently you do that and that should also take into account that its just plain boring! to destroy an immoble object.

You don't need beams specifically, but Amarr ships have the advantage of being able to fire many shots without having to carry (much) ammo or reload. If I'm understanding your question correctly.
also to Elstine, My plan was to scout with my alt to find my targets. then warp in with my main. and yes, i did mean heat sinks, not stabilizers, thanks for pointing that out. And I do understand this will be boring but it's more isk/hr (depending on the modules i can scoop up) than mining (in hi-sec) :)

Near as I can tell, the -best- battleship for shooting a pos is a Paladin. I can out do a Torp raven in my Panther with sentry drones and 1200mm T2's, but a Paladin usually almost doubles my damage on a pos shoot if we show up at the same time. They are just ridiculous. They will out DPS a mothership on a pos shoot. The only thing I've seen that beats it is a Dread.

could you give me an estimate on your dps? I couldn't reach 1162 dps on the paladin with amarr BS V and marauder IV

Have a look at the Panther's bonus. It can do more DPS than a Tempest, as it has the same 5 turret slots, and gets the same bonuses, but has the standard Typhoon drone bay.
Still it's not the actual DPS that pushes me over the top, it's the fact that I can hold 5 T2 sentry drones, and I don't have to reload anywhere near as often as the torp raven. with 1200's, they hold 40 shots of EMP, so I'm still shooting while the torp raven has to reload twice. It only works on long shoots like POS's or stations of course, they would out damage me on smaller stuff like battleships and carriers.
Also, when shooting a pos, always go with 1200's instead of 1400's, with 5 guns, you lose a whole 7 DPS, but the faster cycle times and less reloading bring you out ahead again.

I call bull****. Nothing can out-DPS a CNR.
1500 DPS achievable by switching out a few BCUII's for CN BCUs and even more if you add in some rigs.
Reload time is hardly a factor... you lose maybe a volley per reload. Wow big deal 1/20th of ur damage lost on a reload.
Post your setup if you disagree

You must be a woman... since your entire goal here is to continue posting nonsense until I give up and go away.
1) Thread OP asks for Max DPS BS 2) You suggest a T2 BS 3) I tell you a faction BS will beat the crap out of your ship dps wise 4) You whine about a faction BS not being a T1 BS, and hence isn't allowed. (Still can't figure this one out) 5) You boast about killing T1 BS's with your T2 BS (Wow,,, you're so cool) 6) I tell you DPS is not the only factor in deciding who gets a kill mail. 7) You tell me to shutup and stop talking about PVP 8) I lol and walk away from thread

again, thanks for all the replies. Napro, could you post the 1500 dps setup for the CNR? Again though, a limiting factor causing me avoid caldari ships is the ammo logistics and having to keep watch to re-initiate the attack after reloads.

But in the end ammo will be a problem. Not to mention all the skills you need are quite insane. Gunnery missles and drones at max takes ages :(

1) Thread OP asks for Max DPS BS -- yes 2) You suggest a T2 BS -- yes 3) I tell you a faction BS will beat the crap out of your ship dps wise -- Sure, fair enough, I never claimed otherwise 4) You whine about a faction BS not being a T1 BS, and hence isn't allowed. (Still can't figure this one out) -- Because *all* I said, was the panther could do more damage to a pos than a Raven, I never claimed it could beat a CNR. And I've never compared a Paladin (which I can't fly, all my experience is with them doing more DPS than me TO A POS) 5) You boast about killing T1 BS's with your T2 BS (Wow,,, you're so cool) --- Umm where did I say that, unless you mean when I said I can do more damage to a pos than a torp raven can. 6) I tell you DPS is not the only factor in deciding who gets a kill mail. --- It is when it's an unarmed or offline pos (I would never bring a shield tanking Panther to a pos that could shoot back) 7) You tell me to shutup and stop talking about PVP -- yes, because shooting an offline or unarmed pos isn't really a 'pvp' thing 8) I lol and walk away from thread -- Ok, fine, then next time don't come in with the first words "i call bulls**t" after not reading the actual responces.

For shooting a pos, it will depend on what race, whichever pos has a resistance to the type of damage a garde II does, use the Ogre II's and vice versa.

Both do thermal damage, Ogre IIs do more base dps but Garde IIs can get a nice bonus from rigs which puts them before Ogre IIs in terms of dps.

According to my math, 1,705 is a slightly higher number than 1,623. You may want to check over what other people post before assuming they're wrong and getting all offended when someone pooh-poohs your CNR...
