10 Things That CCP Does So well.
10: Let you spend 4 months working for a ship that you really like then Nerfing it so much it becomes Pointless.
9: Implimenting Major game Ideas that have nothing to do with What the players want or need.
8: Promising wonderfull enhancments to eve, (Ie: Walking in Stations) then dumping that Idea and making a consol game instead.
7: Making game logs that contain so much lack of information, That they make you feel like you are a liar.
6: Attempting to Populate 0.0 with no Idea that a lot of people have no Intention of EVER of going to 0.0.
5: Publisising to the world that eve is a massive real time pvp fleet engine. (not a turn based one like it is :P)
4: Changing the skills that you need to fly a ship at random or upgrading them so high that it takes another 3 months of training to fly the same ship.
3: Will never ever admit that there changes are ruining the game in not only speed related isues but customer related issues.
2: Giving -sec status players cons and + sec status players Nothing.
1: Has no idea who there customers are, or what the universe of eve is really like to play.

Hmm the tears, yummy.
Also some of your "10 things" are bull****. CCP do know what Eve is like to play as many of the Dev's play it,
"2: Giving -sec status players cons and + sec status players Nothing."
Shut up, positive sec status means you can roam freely and people may trust you more whereas if you have a negative status people think you are just out to do bad, one of my characters is -5.3 sec status and many folks wont do even basic trades as supposedly "I'm gonna rip them off". So there is perks to having a positive sec.
"8: Promising wonderfull enhancments to eve, (Ie: Walking in Stations) then dumping that Idea and making a consol game instead."
WIS is still in development I believe, so again shut up.
"5: Publisising to the world that eve is a massive real time pvp fleet engine. (not a turn based one like it is :P)"
Are you a troll or just a ******? The rest of your post is also bull**** but I can't be arsed to comment on it all. ------

Actually, I consider nuking FOTMs a good thing.
Quote: 9: Implimenting Major game Ideas that have nothing to do with What the players want or need.
Any example?
Quote: 8: Promising wonderfull enhancments to eve, (Ie: Walking in Stations) then dumping that Idea and making a consol game instead.
…except that WIS isn't being dumped and Dust isn't being made "instead".
Quote: 7: Making game logs that contain so much lack of information, That they make you feel like you are a liar.
Meh… ok. But on the other hand, there are tons of things that are just too costly to log.
Quote: 6: Attempting to Populate 0.0 with no Idea that a lot of people have no Intention of EVER of going to 0.0.
They're very well aware of that, so that's not a problem. The issue is that they're also missing how to populate 0.0 with people who are already in 0.0 in some capacity, rather than giving those even more incentive to leave it behind and go to highsec instead.
Quote: 5: Publisising to the world that eve is a massive real time pvp fleet engine. (not a turn based one like it is :P)
Oh, I don't know… it worked pretty well between QR and Dominion.
Quote: 4: Changing the skills that you need to fly a ship at random or upgrading them so high that it takes another 3 months of training to fly the same ship.
Again, examples (especially of the "at random" bit)?
Quote: 3: Will never ever admit that there changes are ruining the game in not only speed related isues but customer related issues.
Oh don't worry. All other game publishers already do this, so you're too late.
Quote: 2: Giving -sec status players cons and + sec status players Nothing.
That's not really a problem if the pros and cons balance each other out in both instances… whether they do or not is a different matter.
Quote: 1: Has no idea who there customers are, or what the universe of eve is really like to play.
…or worse, have no idea about basic game mechanics in the very game they're developing. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

10: Because CCP makes a point of nerfing every single ship in the game every 4 months, and these nerfs make all ships' usage pointless (even though having all nerfed equally would mean that the ships are in technical terms equally useful, given circumstances, to how useful they were before being 'nerfed')
9: Because giving players what they 'want' is the best way to keep things balanced, even though adding in one part of the scale and not in the other will cause disparity in balance and thus cause things to become unbalanced. Because giving players what they 'need' (read: want, but feel that because they can and want to whine about it, it is a necessity) is a perfectly reasonable justification for adding things that can and often would cause balance issues.
8: Because CCP has officially (read: never) stated that WIS would exist as a game element by a specific (read: unspecified) date, and has officially (read: as far as the Op is concerned) stated that they've scrapped (read: had to push back deployment of) WIS in favour of using it as exclusive (read: cross-game assets) elements for Dust514.
7: Because a client's ISP having a bad route that causes packet loss should be logged by CCP, who should have special rights to packet logs (you know, the ones that don't exist at ISPs) at all the hops for all the different routes that all game clients could possibly take from the player's PC all the way to the various proxies for the EVE servers, and thus, CCP should have the information required to asses why a player's client has magically disconnected from the servers.
6: Because the Op accounts for the majority of the playerbase that are not specifically interested in nothing further than being in an NPC corp, and thus the Op's opinion of content related to 0.0 is the only valid opinion that exists on these forums and in the minds of all players of EVE.
5: Op is clueless.
4: Op is clueless.
3: Because the Petition queue hasn't been gradually becoming smaller since the launch of Cold War (even though it has) in contrast to the rapidly increasing active playerbase (the active subscribers that log on and may or may not experience an issue they need to petition; not the PCU).
2: Because getting sec status for shooting at NPCs is a conscious action taken on the part of the player, and shooting at other players is not.
1: Because the GMs obviously just magically know the answers to players' petitions while devoting all their time to other MMOs, etc.
I hope for the Op's sake that he's just a troll - because if he isn't, then I feel sorry for his degree of ignorance he's just demonstrated here... ---

Hmm...nuking FOTM or nerfing overpowered mechanics? Sounds good to me...
Quote: 9: Implimenting Major game Ideas that have nothing to do with What the players want or need.
<sip> Ahhh, yummy. Translation: Making game changes that have nothing to do with what YOU want or need. Last I heard, you're not the only one playing EvE, OR someone with the Big Picture as to the game as a whole. Anyone can be a armchair general...strange how many of 'em are failures in reality.
Quote: 8: Promising wonderfull enhancments to eve, (Ie: Walking in Stations) then dumping that Idea and making a consol game instead.
Last I heard, WIS is still on the design sheet. Perhaps, in the "awesome" wisdom you've displayed so far, you could tell us why CCP has to run TWO SEPARATE PROJECTS (Dust 514 and Ambulation) that in essence do the same thing? OR, could it be that they're working on ONE engine for the FPS display, that'll be ported to BOTH DUST and EvE? Y'know, to not waste dev time while developing the basic engine? Or is that thought too much for your one braincell? <sips again> Hmm, a little bitter that sip...
Quote: 7: Making game logs that contain so much lack of information, That they make you feel like you are a liar.
Perhaps, in this case, you ARE a liar. Either that, or instead of a general whine, how about listing WHAT you want in the log, exactly, for comment? Perhaps do it where it's best at... the Ideas and Suggestion Forum? That's what it's for, after all.
Quote: 6: Attempting to Populate 0.0 with no Idea that a lot of people have no Intention of EVER of going to 0.0.
Oh, CCP realizes that, allright. That whole "moving to 0.0" thing was a whine by wannabe piwates looking for easy targets...so CCP threw 'em a bone that doesn't really make any difference. The ONLY thing taking a nerf in that whole "NPC Corp tax" bit was to those who blitz missions - and even to those, it was a minor hit. Easily escaped by joining a hisec corp. It was NEVER THEIR INTENTION to force anyone into anything - that's how you lose players. <sip> Ahhhhh....
Quote: 5: Publisising to the world that eve is a massive real time pvp fleet engine. (not a turn based one like it is :P)
Any proof of it's turn-based nature - or are you referring to lag? If lag, well then... CHALLENGE FOR YOU: Design a server-client architecture that can handle 1200+ realtime clients using today's hardware. The server must account for the actions of ALL people connected, be performing calculation on up to 24 events per client concurrently, PLUS independent events that are happening in the same area.
Try it and see how effective it'll be as the number of clients increases...even Crays will boggle at around 800 or so realtime clients of this nature. Some things just Aren't Possible under today's bleeding tech...tough to comprehend by those who Didn't Do the Research to see what CAN be done.
Quote: 4: Changing the skills that you need to fly a ship at random or upgrading them so high that it takes another 3 months of training to fly the same ship.
Examples Last change I read about they LOWERED requirements.
Quote: 3: Will never ever admit that there changes are ruining the game in not only speed related issues but customer related issues.
Yawn - EvE is dying (again!)

Edited by: Khemul Zula on 27/12/2009 20:55:14 The funny part of these lists is that if you take them seriously then you actually must take the view that the customer actually enjoys being abused. That they really want to feel like the corporation doesn't care about them. Afterall, the businesses that match these "<insert corp name> doesn't care!" or "how not to run a company!" type complaints are always the most successfull businesses in their field.
That or the list is just self-centered whining.
I'm actually leaning towards the first one though.

Things CCP does that most other mmos are too afraid to even dare try.
1 Letting Players run the show from the assination of the amarrian emperor or the invasion of intaki prime
2 Not letting npcs get in the way. Last npc I remotely call being an 'epic' threat was a jovian admrial gone nuts and we'd done roasted him and fed him to the gallente already.
3 Create the first Persisent Universe amogst MMOs. Most other mmos make a Presistent World but EVE-online + Incarna + Dust 514 being is slowly beginning to give us players what we been clamoring for years. A sci fi simulator.
4 A truer and more in depth meaning to war of a grander scale. Intel, Counter Intel, Espionage, logistics. Theatrical, Strategic, Operation, and Tactial Scale stratgey, Moral, and politics. Not some premade room with decorations where little kiddies go capture a flag and think they're BAMFs when they do it over again and again in the same room 100s of times over. At least in eve you screw up capturing it once you may never get another chance to capture it again. Who knows it may as well been you fault your group lost the war entirely.
5 Letting players reap what they sow. Thier blood sweat and tears poured into what little they have or dont have to make thiers, in the end if they still have it after the dust clears they deserve it, provided they know how far it will take to keep it.
6 Ingame Social Engineering - Guiding Hand Social Club or Ebank scandal, nuff said.
7 It hurts pvp. This gets rid of most of the incompetent players or makes them really suffer.
8 PVP though a wallet! For some people in eve thier wallet is far more dangerous than any XL 1200mm dual monster railguns, amarr forbid you become thier enemy.
9 Complexity with means to understand. unlike X3 which requires reading an entire flight manual to even begin to play, at least eve you can fumbel around and learn as you go, and keep going and going and going, the depth of eve's mechanics are instense and spanned out, it will take a player a very very very long time in eve before he can say hes done it all.
10 Metagaming! Who knew playing a game outside the game could be so much fun?

Hasnt affected me yet so donno what your talking about
9: Implimenting Major game Ideas that have nothing to do with What the players want or need.
More shiny, bigger and better stuff is always good
8: Promising wonderfull enhancments to eve, (Ie: Walking in Stations) then dumping that Idea and making a consol game instead.
What are you complaining about, can't you walk in stations in Dust?
7: Making game logs that contain so much lack of information, That they make you feel like you are a liar.
The logs show nothing, so if they arent usefull, why even try to ?
6: Attempting to Populate 0.0 with no Idea that a lot of people have no Intention of EVER of going to 0.0.
The attempt was to try and get people interested into 0.0 and therefore create the intention to move into 0.0.
5: Publisising to the world that eve is a massive real time pvp fleet engine. (not a turn based one like it is :P)
Well its sort of both. Alliance A does this and then Alliance B (mostly together with C, D, E and F) reacts. Result is massive real time pvp fleet pew pew
4: Changing the skills that you need to fly a ship at random or upgrading them so high that it takes another 3 months of training to fly the same ship.
Gives you time to make more isk to buy the ship!
3: Will never ever admit that there changes are ruining the game in not only speed related isues but customer related issues.
Its their game, they can do whatever they want with it. You dont like it, you don't pay (& play)
2: Giving -sec status players cons and + sec status players Nothing.
+sec status gives the reward of being able to live in empire space without being pew pew'd all over the damn place
1: Has no idea who there customers are, or what the universe of eve is really like to play.
Customers are the ones who play their game and pay for it. Also most of them play EVE themselves, only they can't reveal because can you imagine the crapload of people convo-ing them to talk to them for w/e reason (Even if you set the fee to 100m isk people will pay that amount to talk to the dev) But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |

I know you are but what am I?
Walking in stations is a stupid idea, its just another time sink that will keep pilots docked. There's already too many reasons for people to stay docked right now.
Unless/until there's some sort of pvp in WIS, I won't support it.
