Since I've just filed a petition I'll just quote myself here...
Quote:I have tried clearing cache and my settings. It happens on both my 32-bit win 7 and my 64-bit win 7. There is absotluely no sign when and why this happens; the GPU goes 100% as long as I have Eve client (happens to both SiSi and Tranquility) focused. My frame rate drops to like 10~30 while normally the game runs around 50~60 FPS. The only way to fix the issue is to reboot my pc. My gfx driver is always uptodate, and to debug this issue, I tried to downgrade driver version but it did not help.
I don't remember how long this issue occurs; maybe it started over 1 or 2 months. In average the framerate drop happens once every 2~3 days, but it can happen multiple times a day without warning.
I'm just wondering if this happens to anyone else.
I'm using:
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 11
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE (driver ver 301.42) Display Memory: 2768 MB Dedicated Memory: 978 MB Shared Memory: 1790 MB

Happened to me a couple of times, I run two clients at once.
My specs: gtx670, I5 2500k, 16gb ram. When i restart both clients it fixes it.
GPU usage goes to 99% but GPU power drops, looks like some sort of clock down power saver mode for the GPU is causing it. Doesn't take much to run eve maxed out, i get 60 fps constant (both clients) at everything max, GPU usage at 40-50 % ish when not stuttering.
Don't know if this applies to your gfx card (gtx 460) but new nvidia beta drivers are out that should of fixed the stuttering (for various games), hasn't happened since these have been installed for me, but it happens randomly so i won't say its a definite fix. Plus the new beta drivers have a mouse flicker bug in them, but will be fixed in the whql release, just something to bear in mind. |

I've never had this problem before until after one of the more recent Inferno patches. Now it happens to me *all the time* up to the point that I can't participate in fleets anymore.
My FPS is normally at around 50-60, depending on what else is on the grid etc but when this happens (mostly when undocking or jumping through gates but sometimes also in the middle of doing nothing) it drops to anywhere between 5-10fps. Checking system monitor shows ExeFile.exe taking up 100% GPU, when normally it takes somewhere between 30-60%, depending.
Sometimes this problem corrects itself, sometimes the only fix is client restart.
My system specs:
System Model: HP EliteBook 8730w (FU470EA) Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.120503-2030) Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9600 @ 2.80GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.8GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA Quadro FX 2700M Display Memory: 2269 MB Dedicated Memory: 495 MB Shared Memory: 1774 MB Current Mode: 1920 x 1200 (32 bit) (60Hz)

I think it happens in certain stations. I just docked into an amarr station and my GPU usage went from 20% to 100%. Usually happens when I'm running two clients but happened with only one just now.
Running with optimized for performance settings,
GeForce 9600GT 8Gb ram

I always have to restart my client to fix it. It's not a clock issue either, or at least it does not register with msi Afterburner as such. It shows the clock as a graph: http://labs.dura.fi/p/Malar/b99d.png and it didn't change when I quit and restarted eve. Yea i got the same issue. Frames drops while jumping through a couple of gates Docking at a station or resizing the client window. I also noticed that warping to the sun causes a huge FPS drop. I got a latop intel core duo @ 2 GHZ 4 GB RAM Nvidia 8400 M GS |
