Ya know, there is a market system in place in game but why is it that I can only trade the stuff that any player can make?
I really want to know when this market is going to be opened up more and anything and everything will be able to be put up for sale. Especially some of the pirate dropped stuff, it makes it so much more easier to trade than the trade channel.
Any estimated time of implementation? I know CCP is planning it, I just want to know when we can expect to see it in game.

This is something I would like to see as well, I get so many items from loot or that I build that I cant sell on the market so I have to sell them the hard way. So effectivly this created 2 markets one where you can get the same old stuff but at anytime and one where you get the good items at cheaper prices. "Death Before Dishonor" |

I like the two markets. You have to know some sellers and buyers and it's not that impersonal like the normal market it. You might want to try www.eveauction.com where you can sell stuff in large quantities. ---

Truthfully the Trade channel is the worste thing a MMORPG could have. EVE's market is set up right, just needs to be opened up. "WTB" and "WTS" hardly meet the terms of RP. (E&B anyone?)
Will be nice to set up shop and have players come to my local "Rare and Amazing Things" store. Dont think many will like that though, they'd have to get off their lazy arse and look... god forbid.
Also looking foward to this for the fact that pirate PC's will also be looking for a good "steal". When the market does open up, and it will, there's going to be a whole lot of woopass goin on.

The whole point of the market was so you wouldn't have to sit on the trade channel hour after hour spamming WTS blah blah blah open convo....

Agreed. Why should the players have to duplicate effort outside the game to create a feature that the game already has. I can understand if they intend to only allow this equipment on the black market. However, we have not been given an ETA on this feature either.
To provide for trading relationships, buyer and seller names need to be provide prior to market transactions.

Another looming problem is what happens when goods can be researched, and so might have different stats (i.e., items are unique to some extent)?
I've always thought that something like eveauction.com should have been implemented in the game alongside (and not replacing) the current market. It should be in-game to allow normal buy/sell mechanics to be employed, as well as enforcing some rules.

A good point about researched items. But then, those items will have thier names and stats already predetermined. Only need to add them to the market. Reverse Eng(if still only a rumor) will impact the market like a hurricane. I for one will greatly enjoy going to the mall and picking out a nice Anode Ion Blaster IV Hybrid to match my killer set of Cold gas arc-jets III.
Will expect to see 500 items in region for sale rather than the 150+ normaly. Wouldn't mind having a shop to support all you power hungry adventurers.
Remember pirates. If its for sale there, the shop keeper has the best already.

They need to get rid of all loot that doesnt fit the market, and bring it back when it does. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |

I would like to "roleplay" this issue, but I think that the problem lies somewhere else outside the eve world.
The fact is, the market is slow. There are independent SQL Servers for the market data, and they are working hard to keep it up when there are 4500+ players online. Doing a region wide search is a 5 minute task at least (try that on a sunday in Lonetrek or verge vendor regions).
Now, think about the market performance, when we start to introduce hundreds of non standard items, from hundreds (even thousand) players in each region.
I think that's why it is not implemented yet. I started myself a thread a while ago about this same issue, and I still think that a market system as good as the one available in EVE really NEED to be used by the players to sell such items.

Unfortunately if the pirate drops were sellable on the open market manufacturing anything other than ships would be even more pointless than it already is. |

Speaking of the database. How large of a chunk of the datebase if clogged with pods/newbie ships from people trying to move their bigger ships around?
The shuttles are a good idea, but to be effective, they need to be able to fit into the cargohold of any ship, otherwise they are a complete waste.
And also, players need to be able to right-click on any item in any hanger, any where and select an option to scrap it. This is absolutely needed to aid the players in setting up some sort of organization to their own gear.
I mean come on, I own a corporation, can't I just make a phone call to my office there (I assume there are people running that office) and tell them to scrap something there. Must I make a personal appearance everytime something needs done? I'm not Darth Vader, I'm not that dedicated.
But something like that would help CCP keep the database down a lot.Not to mention the fact that I wouldn't have to open my assets list and sort through about a hundred distant hangers with one velator in each of them just to find something I might need.

I like the fact that there is one market for mainstream items and another (unofficial) for other stuff. Sort of like how you can buy an assault rifle just about anywhere real life but if you want a 50 cal machine gun you have to hit the black market (in the US at least). It's my understanding that eventually black market contacts will enable one to buy and sell items not approved for regular trade. This makes good sense and fits with the game, I think.

Everything that exists in the game should be available for players to sell on the market. Why anyone would disable this feature for a large percentage of items players are going to want to buy is beyond me.

Anyone have any info on the Black Market? Perhaps pirate loot will only be sold on the black market?

Trade needs:
1. A working GUI, the previous one was fine, now we have no zoom, trading makes my eyes bleed now.
2. A list of _all_ buy/sell orders in a station/system, not just the best price.
3. As above with the ability to pick which order we want to forfill, maybe we don't want to buy or sell to some people :)
4. Remote buying, currently it sometimes works, and its great when it does.
5. Remote selling, with a broker fee.
6. Non-standard items in the market (as mentioned).
7. Trade skills to mean something.

I'm going to brain storm here.
CCP has spent too much time on their trade interface and it isn't even close to what it needs to be. Its clumsy, way too limited in several ways and confusing for new players. Rip out the entire current interface.
Stealing another persons idea. We need an open, read-only, queryable SQL database interface. CCP can publish their own web-based interface to this trading database. So can anyone else, in-game or out-of-game. Anyone should be able to feed it their own SQL query without too much hassle. The tables and fields in the database should be fairly straight forward.
The key new feature is a way in-game to easily enter your purchase or buy order. Orders are universe wide for any item. Transaction charges should keep down spam. Abuse of the trade database should be punished. I suppose a secure web-based order method could also be developed. I'll leave that for the experts.
